iRobot 1100 Dirt Dog™ Bagless Robotic Vacuum

I plugged up my new dirt dog the day I got it and let it charge all night. I unplugged it and took it downstairs to my basement garage and sat it in the middle of the floor. It only has the one button on top, CLEAN, so I pressed it. It made a happy little tune and went straight to work. When it had finished it looked like I took my time and swept up every last crumb and hair off the floor myself. I was actually getting our seven-year-old ready for his first day of second grade. iRobot products really do free up time you would be doing cleaning to do other things. I now have a dirt dog, a 4000 series sage roomba, and a scooba for the kitchen floor. They all work perfectly and only take two minutes to empty/clean whenever you get home. I truly feel like George Jetson. Now, if I could just find a job where I press a single button all day...

I own a german shepheard and 2 cats, need i say more, i sweep my kitchen every 2 days, this did a great job, for what I need!

I really love the idea of the Roomba, but there is a serious problem with this product. They don't work correctly if they are not clean. When I got the dirt dog it worked great. Then I started having problems with the cliff sensors. When they are dirty, the Roomba just keeps backing up and spinning because it is sensing that it is near a cliff, like the edge of a step. I have cleaned these things over and over. I have to clean it three or four times each time I use it. It is very frustrating. I threw it in the trash. I am done. I'll just use a broom in the garage. It's faster than cleaning the stupid edge sensor for 20 minutes.

the dirt dog picks upmy saw dust from my projects so I do not have to sweep. What I don't like about it is it does not dock when the battery is ran down.

I bought the dirt dog thinking it would work great in our living room, but I failed to realize that it doesn't have a vacuum. However, I let it do its thing and I was surprised by how well it cleans. So I bought another Roomba product, the 560 Model which of course has a vacuum and now I let that clean our main living room and the Dirt Dog cleans the garage and basement. It does a pretty good job and I don't have to monitor it that often. Initially I did because I did not want it to fall into the sump pump well but it would automatically reverse itself and clean around it. I clean it once after every three cycles and I am surprised by the amount of pet hair and dirt it picks up, this is pretty awesome because our Yellow Lab was driving me crazy. She sheds so much hair that it is hard to keep up with and now I have a 6 month old and it is hard to keep up with the cleaning. The roomba gives me back my 1 hour that it used to take me to clean the house before purchasing roomba.
If you have a pet who sheds as much as mine does, then the Roomba models with a vacuum is what I would recommend, however if the VACUUM isn't that important than the Dirt Dog is what I would go with.

Dirt dog is the best when you own tile floors and pets.

Xmas I bought the 580 with the onboard Computer.. that sends it out in the middle of the night to clean. My wife thought I crazy, but now tells everyone she is amazed at how well it works, we have no pets or kids and it is truly amazing how much dust and dirt he comes back with-we don't know where he can find it all. I don't really use the computer part of it because I like to watch the little guy work. When I take him to work at my store he is out running all over cleaning, just a little work horse, every once in a while he's too quiet and I have to just go check on him, you can't believe how far he can get. I took it up to my store this morning and hit the button and said see ya later, I'm sure it ran, and ran and it is all cleaned up. When people stop in I just hit the dock button and off he goes to the base to recharge, people just can't believe he's that smart. My brother stopped last month and watched it and said get my wife one of those for me. He thought she might be mad that he bought it. But, he called last week and said that she loves it that she even named it and she sends it under the beds to clean her regular vacumm won't get very far under.. I think they are just amazing. I liked him so much I just bought the dirt dog for the garage floor. Now the dirt dog doesn't have a filter in it so it can make dust in a garage, but it will pick up every bit of gravel and junk that falls off of the car. I hit the on button and off that one goes, I can't wait till I can get it on the patio to work. No problems with either of them. If I can find a reason I'll get another. I'm waiting for the gutter cleaners to be perfected a bit more and then I'll have one of those also... Can't say enough about my kids... Gery

E' già il secondo Dirt Dog che compro! L'ultimo l'ho preso per mia madre. Che dire, è il quarto Roomba che prendo, questo è quello che mi ha dato meno problemi. E' anche il meno complicato, non ha l'aspirapolvere nel cassetto posteriore e quindi la sua capacità di raccolta dello sporco è molto elevata e di conseguenza, con un motore in meno, comsuma anche meno e mi permette di fare quasi tutta la casa con una carica (100 mq). Malgrado la mancanza dell'aspirapolvere pulisce quasi come l'altro, certo le particelle più piccole non le aspira, ma le sue spazzole fanno un ottimo lavoro e comunque, quando si passa lo straccio per lavare il pavimento, si toglie quel poco che è rimasto. L'unità logica è la stessa delle altre, è quindi compatibile con il telecomando, e questo gli permette di fare tutto quello che fanno gli altri. Ritorna anche alla Home base per ricaricarsi. Non ha il sensore di sporco e questo non lo fà ritornare indietro per pulire meglio dove è passato. Ha i pregi e i difetti di tutti gli altri Roomba. Doverosa, anche per lui, una certa manutenzione, come la rimozione di peli di animali e capelli dalle spazzole rotanti , una volta al mese una bella soffiata con il compressore sui motori e -con una pressione più bassa- all'interno e sui sensori anteriori.
Lo consiglio, è un buon prodotto.

This is my third robot from iRobot. They're just like pets really, they need very little care except a good dusting occasionally and obviously feeding (charging). Like his brother scoobadoo and his sister ivy (interactive vacuum) he does exactly what it says on his box. I cannot praise the products enough and although heavily criticized for being gadget mad, and suggest I get out more you have to question why people will buy a Dyson and have to actually push it around yourself - madness! just need a couple more robots - one to clean the car and the other to take the real dog for a walk.

This little 'puppy' does the job. It'll clean where your help fears to tread, and does it without complaint, coffee breaks, or protest--and doesn't phone in sick.
I put this little rig to work twice a day, and never disappoints me...although it may get stuck in a few akward situations, I'm amazed at the cleaning job performed as it gets under benches, toolboxes, and work spaces where others have missed or forgot to run a broom.
If I had the choice of someone to sweep the floor, or my iRobot--it'd be a pretty tough decision...although the iRobot can't grab me a coffee, it won't be standing around once I leave the room.

I recently bought a dirt dog from burritos999 and I like it so much that I bought one for my mother. She got out of the box and charged it. The machine ran for 15mins then no longer worked at all. She tried calling customer service 3 times and little to no help at all. Finally they sent her a new battery, no joy still so she finally sent the whole unit back to the company still no to have recieve a working unit to date. So the advise I give to all is stay away from vmsupply of the product or you might get burned.

The charger did not work right of the bat call Irobot they did nothing!!! After I bought a new charger it worked for 3 days before the drive wheels quit working.

I bought the Dirt Dog to use on our enclosed patio, where our 2 cats live. iRobot works great. I have the vacuum, clean the throw rugs, then pick them up (sometimes they get "caught" in the vacuum, so I supervise that part), get the cords & the leaves of my one plant off the floor, and walk away while Dirt Dog does the work. With 2 cats and warm weather, the patio was always "fuzzy". Now it is great!! No cat hair, no dead bugs, or any other mess. Dirt Dog works great. Works well in our garage too. Highly recommend!!

I've ordered 2 robots. One for me and for my 79 year old Momma. We love them. iRobots are easy to use and they work!! We have 2 boys,1 dog and 5 cats. This iRobot gets everything. I will buy another and to all of you who think you might like one,don't wait. Lifes to short to worry about cleaning all the time. Let iRobot do the work.

I purchased the Dirt Dog, not for use in my garage or shop, but for my home.
We have alot of traffic in and out of our home each day, with alot of small stones being carried in on everyone's tennis shoes. These little stones played havic on my wife's upright vacuum, for years. But not the Dirt Dog, it picks them up with ease. Not to mention the pet hair! My wife says her carpet has never been so clean.

Never had such a good dog. i was skeptical, and my kids thought i had lost my mind. a robot? me? oh yeah!
i charged it up-16 hours for a first charge, and it ran for 90 minutes, not 60 like the instructions said. that puppy cleaned my kitchen and both bathroom floors within an hour. that's when i lost it in my house-it really isn't as loud as some have reviewed. i went from room to room, wondering oh where, oh where has my little dog gone, and found it hanging out in my son's room, which is carpeted. i thought i did something bad-they state it is for hard floors, but that little dude had my son's floor so clean. it picked up all the "stuff" on top the rug, and even lifted the matted fibers from the carpet. no, it's not a replacement for regular vacuuming, but it keeps rugs looking neat between vacuuming. the dirt dog is however a very good replacement for the broom and dustpan anytime. it's easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to maintain. the hard part of owning a dirt dog is trying not to spend too much time watching it work. the dirt dog is well worth the price, and great for anyone.
