Simple, quick, easy to use, recent model. This is the last "cheap ink" model made by Canon. The moron who included his personal experience with ink failed to realize that this forum is to explain the pros and cons of the item, not the sellers shipping practices. Or personal buying issues. This is to describe the item and the quality of the item. I have 2 of these and looking to buy a 3rd and 4th. The ink costs 2 bucks a cartridge. uh, deal or no deal? Oh and forgot to mention prints great photo quality pictures as well in a decent ppm timeframe. Only thing missing is the fax machine and scanner. But for a simple, cheap printer, you cannot go wrong here. Canon software is both easy to use and install and found for free on their website. I cannot ask for more.
I decided to buy this item do to even short description I felt with the minor problem it stated that it could easily be fixed. When receiving printer Seller claimed it wasn't used hardly at all but you can tell it was used more then a couple of times. There was no mention of black ink all over the On Button. Said the black printed but the color didn't and may be because it needed a color ink cartridge Even though the cost was fair to the small sescription I should have gotten even for less It's a good thing we know how to fix printers but it to us 6 black & 15 color cartridges plus constant cleaning of the heads we finally got it to work but not sure for how long before it needs a new print head. Seller should have been more honest and a better description and let the Buyers know there is more wrong with it then what was described and that to fix it have plenty of ink or send in for a new print head. Barely working so I'll have to chalk it up as wasted money and look again for another on with this model
Although it does not have the "Bells and Whistles" of most printers, if you are looking for simplicity this is it. It is also very cost efficient. Buying the ink cartridges are very reasonable. I bought this printer because it meets my needs at home.
I use this printer for my income tax preparation business with very high volume of printing. Some days during the approx 3 months of the tax season we print more than 1 ream or 500 pages per day, and we go through 2 or 3 black ink cartridges per day. For this printer we can get the ink as low as $0.75 per cartridge so that my printing costs are extremely low!
The printer won't last me for the complete tax season so I need to have at least 2 of them ready for the season but even if I pay $100 for a brand new one I keep my printing costs very low. The printing quality is VERY good.
I have been planning to try upgrading to laser printing, mainly to increase speed, I'm even ready to spend a little bit more for ink per page so I won't have to be changing cartridges 2 or 3 times a day, but so far I'm in no hurry to do so.
I've owned 5 of them. (no, not all at the same time.) I also had the dreaded "WASTE TANK FULL ERROR" If you call Canon they will tell you the printer is dead and cannot be fixed. I got tired of battling on the E-Bay auctions to buy another at $100 or more. I just found a Brother MFC 230. It has a scanner and fax, I found it on sale at Office Depot for $69.99. There are generic inks available here on e-bay. The ink tanks are only a little more expensive (not much) and they are larger so they last longer than the Canon inks. And here is the best part. The Brother machine will not give you the "WASTE TANK ERROR" problem. Plus the generic inks for it are safe and will not kill your printer the way that the generics for Epson's, etc will.
I wanted to replace my printer with an identical one. My ink absorber pad was full and needed to have maintanance at over $100.I buy my cartridges in quantity on internet as I use a lot of them as I print photos and greeting cards at home. It was more cost effective as I had several on hand. My printer has always performed well.
The seller's description was accurate and I am pleased with my experience as a whole. It took longer to arrive than anticapated, but the reason was explained and understandable. I would purchase from him again.
I recently purchased a new Canon Pixma IP1500, after my old one died. I searched all internet for one is very hard to be found. Pro: Cheap ink, easy to use, best picture photo, fast dries. I have an Epsom Photo Stylus and it is the worst printer, with super expensive ink. Has feature for cleaning itself. Fast printing, faster then HP960C. I have in my own house 6 printers, all working, but this is the BEST. Cons: After a use of two years, printing a lot of picture, the ink collector, was full and didn't print anymore. So do not buy used printers, because is possible that you will use it only for few days.
I wanted exactly the same printer I've had for some time and was able to purchase this item new in the box. It wasn't available any longer at any store.
This is simply the best printer I have ever owned! The Canon software makes it easy to print photos and the print quality is excellent. I print a lot of documents and the most important factor is cost per page. This printer uses the cheapest ink on the planet and therefore has a better long term cost to own/operate than other models half it's price.
I already own the same model and really like the ease and quality of this particular printer. I also love the price of the ink cartridges. I recommend this model to everyone.
I purchased my iP1500 in October 2004 to use on a sailboat while we were living in the Bahamas. Bought it because it was inexpensive and I wouldn't mind if it didn't survive in a salt air environment. I printed approximately 60 reams of paper - black and color. I am still using the printer today. Have had my share of problems - clogged print head (soak in hot water, about .5" - do not get contacts wet - keep soaking until water runs clear) dry well and reinstall. Does the trick. Other problem was "waste ink tank error". Knew it was a goner. I found another ip1500 and purchased it. While waiting for it to arrive, I did some research on-line and found this website "http://forums.techarp.com/technical-support/20091-canon-ip1500-printer-waste-ink-error-tank-error.html" Did what it said and totally solved the problem. Just follow the directions - no long to print here. Now I'll have two and won't trade either of them for any 4-in-1. Good luck.
If you can find A new one of these buy it it is one of the last cannon printers that print cheap! ink cost is as good as epson these carts can also be refilled to make price even cheaper good quality prints also cant go wrong with the older type canon printers before chipping
THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEST PRINTER I HAVE EVER PURCHASED! NOT ONLY ARE THE CARTRIDGES CHEAP AND EASY TO INSTALL, BUT THE PRINT QUALITY IS AWESOME! I HAVE USED THIS PRINTER FOR DAY TO DAY PRINTING, AS WELL AS PRINTING PICTURES. THE QUALITY OF THE PICTURES IS TRULY INCREDIBLE, AND IT IS HARD FOR SOME TO BELIEVE I DID NOT GET THE PICTURES DONE AT A PROFESSIONAL PRINT LAB. THE PRINTER DISC DOES USE QUITE A BIT OF SPACE, BUT THAT IS SO YOU CAN USE ALL OF IT'S GREAT PROPERTIES. THIS PRINTER IS HARD TO FIND, BUT SEEMS TO BE READILY AVAILABLE ON E-BAY. SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN EXCELLENT PHOTO PRINTER, WITH EASY USE AND RELIABILITY, THIS IS YOUR PRINTER!
I love the thrift store bargains. I spotted one at a thrift store for $4,after seeing that they are selling for a decent price,I decided to buy it.(Dont tell my wife,my workshop is already overflowing)The print driver showed the carts were empty,a few drops of ink in each color(probably less than $2 in refill ink)
WOW perfect nozzle check without even running a cleaning cycle.
I have revived quite a few printers and that is a rare case.
People just dont know what they are throwing away.
Prints real nice on some bargain photo paper I bought awhile ago that my other printers cannot print on.
Now I see why the high selling price for this beauty.
I purchased this printer to go with an older iMac, running OS 9. It installed well, but came with a defective print head. An email to Canon customer service, and they overnight expressed me a new one. Good response for a printer that has been out of production for a few years. I have had excellent experience with Canon printers over the years.
I needed a printer that the ink doesn't cost a fortune to replace. The 1500 fills this bill nicely. I love the pictures it prints,in fact I just like canon products. Ebay is the best place to buy them.
Good print quality and very good prices on ink cartridges. I would prefer a tray for paper as it prints out. For a cheap priced printer the Canon Pixma 1500 is a good deal. I highly recommend it.Good to excellent overall.
Only a Good rating because ... I bought an iP1500 new directly from Canon in 2005 for $50 and loved it. However, when you get the message that your waste ink absorber is getting full, start shopping for a new printer. The final message that the waste ink absorber IS full with the instruction to replace it is the death knell because Canon does not have this replacement part (from Canon service dept. to my ears) and neither do their authorized service repair places. Even if they did have it, this is not a consumer replaceable part, either.
I guess 2 years use is ok for the price. I went back to Canon for my new iP4200 which the authorized service repair person suggested. Got it from the Canon eStore for $59.99 this week ... it's marked way down because they have since come out with the iP4300.
Now what am I going to do with the 10 black and 2 color ip1500 ink cartridges I have?? I guess I'll have to list 'em on eBay!
This is a great printer!!!! The ink is cheap. Ihave never had a problem with it. I got a really good price on it to. So this is a great printer on price and ability. So i recomend it to every one.
