Whats better than the ipod with a strong company name?

Creative labs have been known best for their sound systems, sound cards, etc.

Comparing the Zen vision m with the ipod video, the size is relatively the same but the Zen is a little bit thicker and heavier. But for its thickness, you also get more useful features!

Featuring a built in FM transmitter, voice recorder (yes with the built in mic) and better battery life on the videos, why not spend the money on a Zen? The color quality is better, and it includes a sync adapter which also has an a/v out port so you can hook it up to your TV! YES you got that right, hook t up to your TV (cables for that is not included but it’s just an a/v out cable you can pick up for no more than 5-10 bucks).

Videos you have in your computer, (almost any format) can be directly placed into your Zen and be viewed on the TV with GREAT quality. (I tried it on my 67inch and worked perfectly fine) Share photos on the big screen, and also play music while you are sharing those photos.

The battery life on video playback mode is doubled the ipod. Charging the Zen could be a hassle though as it doesn’t include the wall charger. The Zen charges through the USB, and the sync has a port for the wall which is not included.

Comes with a nice leather scratch protection case, and great headphones.

What more can you ask for?

Through my experiences with the ipod, I find the Zen to be MORE user friendly! Accepts a variety of different formats in both video, audio, and pictures.

  Pretty Good Devise

I was looking for a digital media player that was easy to use, had a lot of storage, and had a good design. This player was it! You don't have to do anything fancy to down load music or videos to it and it also has the capability of an external hard drive, like a jump drive. You can set aside so much space for it and then just hook it up to any computer and store/transfer what ever info you need to. It's an all around great player. I've had it about a month and it did freeze up at the end of a video one time, I think because I started hitting too many buttons, but I reset the player and its worked fine ever since.

Get a free iPod Touch!!! Have a look at this video first:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKYVE__Mug

I know that YOU do not want to spend YOUR MONEY on this expensive product. Please just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It literally takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you, this is 100% real. I wouldn't jeopardize my eBay account status if this was a scam. My feedback is real and I will answer you on any question! Here is what you do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3 different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster online, Stamp. com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use them to get a free iPod or cash (I did the Stamps. com for a 4 week free trial and it is free!). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you. After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 5-13 people (depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link (just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your referrals before the auction even ends.
)

Then they will ship your free iPod Touch or your selected item for free, I chose the iPod Touch. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all the referrals. All you have to do is post it on EBAY or any message boards, blogs, face book, my space or any place you hang out at. ! They use us as advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your own personal link after your orders placed.

Step 1: Copy and paste this link: http://www.YourFreeVideoiPods.com/index.php?ref=5404326

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and best).

Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps. com) and refer up to 13 people to do the same (use eBay! Do what I did, copy my ad).

Step 4: Receive your iPod Touch or Other Electronics for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping Is Free!!!)

Please take advantage of this offer!!!

  The Zen Vision:M
Review created: 04/05/08

The Vision has a cool feature that you scroll up and down with the touch of your finger over the main button. However, even though you can select the sensitivity, it is still so sensitive that it selects things I didnt want to select and I have to hit the back button to start my search over again. It gets very frustrating at times!

It IS a very cool MP3 Player, and I love the quality of movies I have on it.

On other thing I don't appreciate is that you can only have 3 playlists of favorites to get right to. Also, istead of having a list of JUST the albums you have on it, it shows every song so you have to scroll through EVERY song that is on it to get to the album title. That includes EVERY song on EVERY album you have on it! There needs to be a function of folders to avoid this.

I have to say though..that I am not a Pro at electronics, and maybe ther IS a way to fix my problem with the selecting of songs.

It is VERY easy to put songs or whatever you want on it. The softwear is great!

  ZEN a Vision of M
Review created: 03/31/08

As MP3 players go, this one has almost all of the features of the ZUNE, but is much, much easier to operate and use. Storing and playing back MP3's is easy. I loaded 149 albums into my MP3 player and arranged it easily within the span of less than 15 minutes. A process that was difficult, tedious and damned near impossible with Zune.

Unlike Zune and its other competitors, the Zen can be accessed directly through your computer using the "My Computer" icon, copy and paste procedures without using any of the included software. However, if you use the included software, you can do much more.

The Zen can hold data files, which Zune and other players will not.

I own a Philips MP3 player which to me is nothing more than trash compared to the Zen with the Zune (expensive trash) coming in 2nd to the Philips.

Super trash for me is the iPod which was expensive, broke twice and caused me to search for another player in the first place.

The only MP3 player I have ever owned which holds a candle to the Zen is the MuVO TX FM thumbdrive player I have taken on countless flights across the country for several years now. For ease of use and programmability, the MuVO was the simplest and easiest to carry and use, but very limited in capacity.

The Zen has all but wireless capabilities and a larger screen like the Zune, but you know what? Its a better player all the way around.

If and when Microsoft decides to open the drive in their Zune player and make more accessible and easier to use without the severely limiting software, Zen will THEN and only THEN have a run for its money.

Size-wise, the Zen is small but readable. Operation and use is simple and quick (as I mentioned) unlike its competitors.

Albums can be arranged in track order, a plus beyond belief!

With all of the aforesaid, the Zen is pound for pound a better deal all the way around.

Id give it an excellent rating, however I reserve that for my simple easy-to-use MuVO FM TX which is still used now and then for ease of convenience and lightweight carry power.

This is the best MP3 player in the market, flexible, compact, long life battery and the storage capacity is optimal,fm radio, the screen high resolution. All in one package, don´t need external devices to play radio, and the interface without interpeters is wonderfull.
I highly recomend.

Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M (30 GB) (Green) Digital Medi
Review created: 03/09/08
by:

Holds most audio and video media. I play movies thru TV, PC and video projector with great results. Have my own movie theater at home on giant screen. Holds hundreds of audio books and music galore. The only thing you need to take on vacation is your ZEN a charger and video adapter for TV and you don't have to leave your hotel room except to eat and go to beach. Don't see how IPOD can compete with ZEN M from a price performance standpoint. ZEN can handle more video media download files from LIMEWIRE than IPOD. The ZEN M is a perfect sized rugged durable quality reasonably priced MP3 audio video player. LOVE IT.

Great upgrade from Zen Micro & perfect ipod alternative
Review created: 02/13/08
by:

I actually got black, and not green, but that aside I've been nothing but enamored with it. As with all Zen MP3 player products it sports great firmware and software (the organizer and whatnot for the PC)all of which integrate seamlessly. The only issue I had with the new software versus the old is that when adding new files it automatically accepts the tag info on the file. You can change it though, either manually on the file itself or they have an auto tag cleaner included in the software which works great and fast, but it lists the tag info as to the most popular song rather than the closest to the already existing tag information or file name. In terms of firmware you're given complete control over display settings, audio setting, play setting for audio, video, and photo as well as the ability to make any photo the desktop and change colored themes. The new side search bar with letters makes scrolling through any list (be it artists, albums, etc.) a snap. The hardware is a great step up too, the display is very bright and colorful. Additionally the move to having all the buttons be press buttons except for the scroll bar means you can easily use the player wearing gloves which since I go walking in the winter a lot is a big deal for me. Theres the expected forward and backward buttons (skipping an tracking, the drop down menu button, the play/pause button, and the wonderfully new anything button. This button can be programmed to preform any desired function (mines set to start random play all) which is really great. Additionally they added a reset button (A small hole you push a paper clip into) which is great and a lot easier for the seldom event of the player freezing. Battery life is great. As far as charging goes it takes pretty long over the standard USB setup, but 3rd party accessories are cheap and work amazing well and fast so don't let that deter you. In summation the Zen Vision M is pretty much everything I expected and wanted in an MP3 player with video capabilities and it went beyond that to surprise me with the really great upgrades to the software, hardware, and firmware.

Creative Zen M is the ipod killer
Review created: 02/11/08
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I bought this mp3 player for my girlfriend who used to have a Sony Vaio (not the laptop) before. The Vaio boasted 40GB of space, but it had quite a few drawbacks. The worst, and of course, knowing Sony should not come as a surprise, was the DRM system. Even if the songs were already in mp3 format, the Sony software would convert them to a proprietary format and then take forever even with USB 2.0 to get them on the player. If your computer crashed and you had to reinstall the operating system, you were doomed. You could not get your songs off the player unless you had previously gone through the process of creating certificates which had to be validated online for the computer that you were storing the songs on. Being the more technical person, I must have ended up transferring about 40 cds on the player over 5 times, and it became very frustrating.

When the battery died on the Vaio, I decided to look for a Christmas present for her. I do a lot of research and read through a lot of reviews when it comes to buying electronics. I was interested on hard-drive based players only. I was not a fan of the iPod to begin with since everyone and their mom has it nowadays but I wanted to be thorough and give it the benefit of the doubt. My friends have iPods too so I considered that as well and in the end I decided to go for the 30GB Creative Zen M. Here are some of the pros and cons:

Pros:
*Zen M has plenty of storage space. Perhaps not 80 GBs or more like the ipod, but you can go up to 60 GB. That is a LOT of space. If you're lying down in a hospital with every bone in your body broken and you're wrapped in gauze like a mummy while watching movies on an mp3 player suspended from the ceiling for hours, chances are you will not end up using all the space. So why pay for it.

*The screen quality on the Zen (over 220k colors) is superior to that of the ipod (64k). The Zen can play MP3, WAV, WMA, ADPCM, Protected WMA (DRM) audio formats whereas the ipod can play AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Audible and Apple Lossless. The Zen screen is bigger too. As far as video formats go, the Zen is amazing. It can play DivX 4, DivX 5, XviD5, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, WMV9 and MPEG. Compare that to just being able to play MPEG-4 on the iPod. No need for transcoding either.

*With the Zen M you don't need software like iTunes. Actually, you don't need any software to transfer the files. Just plug it in a usb port and it will show up as a removable drive. It's all drag and drop from there. I have also found out to my amazement, that Windows Media Player 11 does a great job in finding the album art. I was surprised since some of the third party software I tried out, cost $ and cannot even find half the albums correctly.

*The Zen has a built in FM tuner. iPod does not.

*The Zen M has a customizable wallpaper. iPod does not.

*You can record voice on the Zen directly without the need for third party accessories as is the case with the iPod.

*You can search for songs on the Zen a bit easier than on the iPod. You do a text search or browse by first letter of the artist's name.

Cons:

*A little bit bulkier than the iPod. Whatever. More bang for the buck that way.

*The navigational pad is sensitive and takes a little bit getting used to. The iPod seems to be slightly better.

*Also, iTunes has a wider selection of downloadable music.

My girlfriend loves her new mp3 player and so do I. We love discovering new features on it. And was a bit cheaper than an iPod.

Great features, nice unit.... until the screen cracks

Pros: Love the features. Really like the multiple file format options. FM is a nice feature for those times when you would rather just listen to the radio.

Cons: Don't drop it, hard drives don't handle shock very well. Having the screen crack is not the end of the world, as long as it is still under warranty. If the warranty period is over or you bought it used... I'm sorry, You're sorry, Creative Labs is sorry. If you don't mind forking over the $85-$120 to get it repaired, Creative will fix it. You cannot get replacement parts anywhere, including Creative so don't even consider trying to repair it yourself.

Really love it. Easy to use, more options then the i-pod. The screen is large and very colorfull. This is thicker then the i-pod video version but I think it probably has more features and it's not locked into the i-pod format for all things you download.

Decent product and I'm not disapointed at all.

I originally bought my husband the 2GB ZEN V Plus. But I was jealous and wanted an MP3 player of my own, ha ha! So I bought him the 30GB Creative Vision M. I got to play with it, until he sent me the smaller one. I loved it, and was sorry to give it up. By a stroke of luck, or perhaps dishonesty, my ZEN was swiped! But now I get to get a Vision of my own! I can't wait, I'm so excited! They're awesome. The screen is big. The controls are easy to use, once you read your manual. It could hold everything I ever dreamed of putting on it, plus some! I think this MP3 player is definitely worth every single penny!

Great features but try the navigation before you buy it
Review created: 06/12/07(updated 08/24/07)
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Yes, I did own one, for 2 days, then I returned it.

NAVIGATION
The most frustrating thing about the Creative Zen Vision M is navigation. This is not something you can simply feel your way through. There is no positive click or report when you use the main center navigation panel. You will have to carefully manipulate the thump button and watch the screen to make sure you did not go past, or come short of, the menu item or file you meant to select.

Must highly recommend that you play with one in the store before you commit to buying this unit.

The battery is not user replaceable so if your battery stops taking a charge you will have to send it in to Creative for a battery replacement - for a fee, (I've heard $80 to $110 is the going rate for both Creative and Apple).

ANY HARD DRIVE BASED HAND HELD
Any hard-drive based hand held multimedia player will give you a slight pause between song selections as it finds that next song on the HD. You will typically get some clicking noise coming from the unit as it does this. Shuffle play will likely get you the longest silent interval. Only FLASH drive based players will deliver instant switching from song to song or menu changes.

GREAT FEATURES
The Creative Zen Vision M has great features and packs an FM receiver over the other main competition (some fruit company). It has a great screen and is good sized for a hand held. It is just slightly bigger and heavier than the competition everyone has heard of but the FM radio feature may be the cause of the added bulk. Can play music and video and display photos in addition to the FM radio.

Have tried the Creative mentioned here and an ipod and a Sansa e280. The ipod actually ranked worst by me for its software needs, (the ZUNE also does this) and inability to let let user change battery and lack of FM radio. The Sansa bested everything I've tested or read about current to July 2007.

BOTTOM LINE:
Try before you buy. Navigation too sensitive and yet not sensitive enough (gotta try this to understand). Great features and feels good in hand and nice looking but not fun to use.

I had an ipod for about a year and it rarely worked. i had taken it in to get it fixed after it locked up on me 3 times. the zen i have in place of my ipod is a zillion times better than my old ipod because it actually works. i have had it for about a month, and it still works perfectly. by this time with my ipod i had already taken it in to get it fixed. the zen has a built in FM radio where you can even record the songs you are listening to off the radio. additionally, the zen is easy to use and a hair cheaper than an ipod. ipods suck, zen rules.
