Before I purchased the HDD070 I read reviews and it seemed that although there were a number of people who weren't too happy with the player, there was also a number who said that it was a great deal for the price. The only way to find out was to purchase one for myself. I was actually looking for something with more space since all I had was a 1GB iPod Nano. The seller in no way misrepresented the item but when I received it it was a complete nightmare!! I downloaded the software but wasn't able to add music to the player. I literally spent a week trying to figure it out. While doing that the player started showing an error message on the screen. The screen was stuck saying: error please connect to computer but when I did that nothing happenned. I went on the Philips website and read that I'd have to download the HD manager (from the site), re-install the software, reset the settings on the player and everything should be fine. Well I did that and the error message went away but I was still not able to add music. I finaly went to yahoo (apparently that's who own's the whole musicmatch jukebox) and downloaded the MUSIC JUKEBOX and finally I was able to add music. I was glad to see that I actually got it to work but even at that when downloading the music it took me 20 minutes to download 100 songs. Maybe I'm just a little spoiled because my first mp3 player was an iPod and it was exttremely easy to work with - or maybe Philips just really needs to stop selling these 'cheap' players....BUT consider yourself warned - pay the extra money for anything else other than the Philips HDD070!! Don't waste your time or your money.
It is a simple MP3 player, with only one flaw that bugs me. I don't like the fact that you can't charge it without a power cord. I would have given it a five if it were chargeable through the usb port. Simple interface plus it is easy to copy music on it (Just drag and drop). Would be great for a cheap mp3 player/radio for jogging.
