I love science fiction; accurate or rather, well-researched science fiction is great. Ben Bova has taken several great stories or novels and published them for little known authors. This is the first one of his that I have read. Just wonderful. Some may skip over the acknowledgments but I like to read each word (however boring). He credits several authors that I have read and a lot I haven't. Sure enough I could see the influence and information he got from those I knew. For a 1993 novel it still covers the technical aspect of space travel and setting down on Mars. Just realistic enough that I didn't scoff and put the book down at all. Very believable, very riveting. I never like the get away closer theme no matter how justified. But the ending was satisfying for a romantic like me.
