John Dunning's latest "bibliomystery" was a natural for me. Why? I collect antiquarian books and Dunning's protagonist, Cliff Janeway, is a mystery-solving ex-cop who owns an antiquarian book store in Denver (where Dunning himself used to own the Old Algonquin Bookstore). Dunning's books often contain accuarate and useful information about highly collectible books. Ironically, his own books have become highly collectible. That's why I jumped (well, okay, clicked my mouse) at the chance to owned this SIGNED copy of his latest in a protective mylar cover. "The Bookwoman's Last Fling" deftly interweaves horse racing, a partially pilfered collection of juvenilia (children's books), murder and an unusual but believable cast of characters. Some of us bibliophiles wish there had been less about horseracing and more about book collecting but "Bookwoman" was a good read. I'm glad I own it. I'm glad I read it. I'm glad I can recommend it.
