just reading, it will take a few days with my time avalabile to kick back and go through all the detials, but so far so good. tell the restat a later time.
I read a lot of horror and thriller books so over time I guess I have become a little immune to the fear factor. I have to say, although Koontz is not my favorite writer - a little long winded sometimes - for the first time in years and years of bedtime reading, I actually got a little spooked about turning off my bedside lamp! I did manage to resist checking my closet for lurking axe murderers but only just.
With a likable hero and very creepy villain, the suspense remained right to the end. Very good read.
This is one of my all time favorite Dean Koontz novels. It is short, easy to read, and by far the best. Follow a kind hearted bartender through this twisting and turning book. You will never guess the ending. One of his best works.
Without doubt Dean is my No 1 choice when looking for books, I just wish he could write a book a week, Then I wouldnt have to keep waiting for the next one to come out. Im not going to go into details about the book as if you are like me, I prefer to not know anything untill I start reading about it in the book, I have read every one of his books so far and I love them all. So as you can probably guess from what I wrote above, I highly Recomend this book.
This book was great, one of his best. A page turner from beginning to end... although I really think that "Sole Survivor" and "False Memory" were his best books, and "Intensity" was by far the best movie adaptation from one of his books, this one also rates high up on my list. Recommended!
velocity moves very fast and is almost impossible to put down. the antagonist in this story is a little off the wall, but then again koontz's imagination never ceases to amaze me. i rate this story right up there with intensity which has always been one of my favorites.
I am an avid Dean Koontz reader. I cannot find books here because we live in a rural area. It is so easy and convenient to just look in ebay to find the ones I have not read. No driving hundreds of miles, hunting through malls. Its at my fingertips.
Book was better than expected. Pace is fast; you are zipped from one event to another. Only complaint: Koontz does not let the reader know what the vilian has been plotting for the protaginst as in other Koontz novels.
I think this book is the best I have read in a long time... Koontz writes with such excitement and detail you feel like you're watching a movie in your head... he does it better than KING... he does it better than any other writer tonight... it was thrilling if one can say that about a book... I would it again... and that's unlike me... murder heads in jars... this is an amazing writer... lock the doors send the kids away for the weekend... and indulge...
I bought this book to read on the plane for a trip to hawaii. The idea was to keep me busy and not think about flying. I got to tell you this book did the trick! I didn't even want to land so that I could finish reading.
If I were comparing this with other Koontz books, I would give it a "4" — compared with everybody else it is definitely a "5." This novel shows just how good Dean Koontz has become since his mediocre SF novels of decades ago... he has taken one of the oldest plots in the world ("the biter bit") and turned it into a thrilling tour-de-force. I thought I was getting tired of all the "serial killer" novels coming out these days — actually I was — but it didn't matter; this one is at the top of my list. Incidentally, I got it from my public library... but if your library doesn't have it, I recommend buying it. Yes, I do sell books on the internet; no, I do not have this one for sale, nor do I expect to, unless some nice person gives me two free copies (in which case I will keep one of them on my own bookshelf). Now it's two years later and I just re-read my review. Guess what I am going to do now... (if you guessed go back and REREAD THIS BOOK you were right!) I expect to enjoy it a lot.
This book is excellent. I couldn't put the book down. It kept me guessing until the very end. I finished reading this book in a few day. I would and will recommend this book to any one. This book is a must read.
