I have been using refurbished electronic products for the last 20 years. I started long before I had access to Ebay. To this day I have had a problem with only 1 and this was replaced by an Ebay seller even after the warranty ran out. I feel a refurbished product has been inspected and tested more than a new one. My latest purchase was a Panasonic DMR-EZ47V Player. I looked at the leading local stores for this unit and looked at the prices there. I remembered to look on ebay and found it for less than half price. It had the same warranty and the seller had an excellent score and excellent feedback comments. I purchased the unit and a 2 year warranty for about half the one in the national chain store. The 47V does more things than I've had time to learn. It is a great product and I don't think you can go wrong with it.
Past experience has taught me that I get better service and help from ebay sellers than I do with local sellers. The Panasonic DVD player recorder is excellent and I am enjoying it more each time I use it.
I do my homework by looking in the local stores to find what I want and then go to ebay to buy. I've done this with Digital cameras, radios, GPS's, etc. I've purchased everthing from Gasoline engines to DVD players and in between and have been very well pleased. Ebay is a great place to shop and You will have the purchases delivered to your door quicker than you expect.
Just do your homework, check out the sellers feedback, and enjoy the thrill of fantastic deals on ebay.
You can let someone else do the work and the Mailman or other carrier will do the hauling. They don't mind, your helping his or her's job.
I have purchased 5 of these machines, one at a time, trying to find one that works to no avail. The last one is going back to the store this week. The main reason I bought it is to record scheduled recordings so I don't miss programs when I'm away from home. Well, forget about that as one never knows when it will record or not. I found this to be true with all 5 units. Panasonic offers phone support and even they could not offer any recommendations that actually helped. I emailed them too and then they sent me a disc that was supposed to update the firmware. That was installed and even that did not help. This is a very unfortunate experience as I would have never thought that Panasonic would put out a product that does not work but it appears they have. The idea is a great one, if only it worked with any amount of reliability.
First, this DVD Recorder/VCR works and looks brand new for a refurbished item. I love all the features its got. It can record on just about any DVD format, the DIVX feature is awesome in both sound and video quality. The Jet Rewind for rewinding cassettes is very fast and quiet. I also like that its has a built-in Digital TV Tuner, and a SD Media Card Slot to display Photos taken with a Digital Camera. Also has a HDMI interface for HD TV's. The firmware can also be updated with new or better features from Panasonic. I just love it! Well worth the $145 I paid for it.
As I bought this item for my son, I am not sure about anything. He tells me that it working just great, and he had did some checking around before he had me buy it for him. He has had Panasonic before with excellent experience.
I bought this unit so I could have a method of duplicating my digital camcorder material to DVD, as the OS on my computer no longer interfaced with my camcorder. Also I had some output from an old VHS camcorder when my children were teens and younger so the ability to go from VHS was very appealing. It does the job very well. I especially like the one button synch when copying from VHS to DVD. The only drawback, and it was a minor one, is that I could not get the machine to work when I hooked it in front of the cable box but I hadn't planned on doing any taping from off the air anyway so that is not a major issue. With the price being less than half of what the big box electronic stores charge at retail I feel the machine is more than worth the money.
Have only copied a few VHS tapes to DVD so far but it seems to be great. I really like the versitality of the over the air recording using the digital tuner(chase & play feature especially). I have had a few issues with the DMR EZ-27 locking up or not recording a programmed event but so far this unit has performed flawlessly.
So far we've copied many VCR tapes onto DVD, which is why we purchased the recorder in the first place. We've been very pleased with the quality of the copies and the ease in which we were able to make the copies. This is a refurbished product but has the same warranties as a brand new one and cost about $200 less. We're certainly getting our money's worth out of this product.
I bought this model refurbished and it worked great for almost a month. Now I am in the process of trying to get it fixed--it is supposed to have a 90 day warranty. Initial setup was pretty simple. The tuner was not fantastic but ok.
The product works fine, when it does not lock up. Several times while copying from VHS to DVD, the machine would not stop. The instruction manual does not provide any information about what to do, only a suggestion of what may have caused the problem. Under the title of Disc Recording Times, the instruction manual tells you there are many different options, but not how to access any of them. The instruction manual is also good for precise instructions starting with step 4-99, good luck figuring out steps 1,2,3.
After the frustration of trying to use this product, I would be very cautious about buying another Panasonic product.
The interface is simple and the setup took just a few minutes. I did have to call customer service about one of the settings due to the manual being a little vague for this particular topic but the hold time was only about 2 minutes. The CS rep knew exactly what I was talking about. He explained the solution and I was on my way. As a VCR and/or DVD player, it's just another solid Panasonic offering. Where it excells is in dubbing my old VHS onto DVD. This baby couldn't be any simpler and the quality is just fantastic. If you're looking to back up your old VHS tapes, the Panasonic DMR-EZ47V has it all. If these are getting as hard to find as I imagine they might be, my advice is to stick with whatever Panasonic offering has taken its place. No one beats Panasonic in quailty or bang for the buck.
All and all ..it's a very nice unit..but the instruction booklet does not make it easy to follow ...I'm a technician..I can't imagine someone without my background being able to follow that booklet that came with the DMR EZ47V DVD Recorder. I'm now able to play a VHS tape...or record to VHS. What I would like to do is record using the DVD disk..and or..be able to copy a VHS tape and put it on to one of my DVD recordable disks. It's total confusion tying to follow that booklet that came with it. I hope to get up to my home this weekend early enough to call Panasonic by phone and get some help before they close on the East Coast. I'm on the West Coast.
I love the unit..I have tons of VHS movies that I have not been able to watch and I wanted to put them all on DVD. The previous unit I had was so complicated and this is just a matter of a couple pushes of buttons and it is done. I absolutely love it.
very disapointed, advertised as new and recieved a refurbished model. had trouble right out of the box. to much of a hassle to send back and mess around so, i,ll just eat this. definatley fed up with buying on ebay. with the exception of one seller all other purchases and bidding has been a pain in the a.. people are jerks and very rude, they dont get back to you wiyh answers to questions, and if they do its a 3 word answer, no effort. i,m done shopping on ebay, its not worth the hassles or headaches. i,m going back to shopping at stores, at least you can deal with a rude human being !!!!!!
It makes excellent quality copies. Great for transferring my old family vhs tapes to dvd. Easy to hook up and easy to operate. I wish it had an open/close button on the remote for the dvd.
Hooked it up as soon as I rec'd it & everything worked fine except when I tried to copy pictures from my san disk to a blank formatted dvd ---- I get an error that says no valid disc--- Cannot copy all pictures(JPEG) even though I was able to copy from another dvd in another unit and was able to copy from live tv to this same blank dvd. If anyone knows what I am doing wrong or can assist me with the exact blank dvd I need to copy pictures from my san disk taken with my canon digital camera(Power Shot A540), Please email me @ John316john146@yahoo.com. (Unfortunately the manual didn't address this particular error) Overall I am very pleased with this panasonic recorder and will be extremely happy when I figure out how to copy from my san disk to dvd. John
Liked the fact that the product had a digital tuner and could record on both DVD and VHS and convert one to the other easily. Be advised that Panasonic has some peculiar problems in communicating with certain TVs. In my case when using the DVD player it shows a thin vertical line the entire height of the TV screen. Panasonic tech support was very helpful but to no avail. They offered to have the unit picked up and repaired at their cost but it was not that big of a deal. Other than that the unit is very nice.
works well for making DVD copies of VHS home tapes. takes 15 seconds to turn on though, and changing channels also takes about 2 seconds each channel. Other than that, it works fine.
Although the unit was "refurbished", you wouldn't know it because it works just like a new one. I like the copy capability in both directions, what I didn't like is that regardless of how many recordings you make, the menu shows eight positions, the other is that while copying from one to the other, you're not allowed to pause the recording so you don't record commercials as well, and last, but not least, recording does not start instantly when "record" is pressed, there's a 5 second delay, therefore, you must start recording early, otherwise you'll miss the beginning.
Gave this one star because they do not let you choose zero! Unit is totally worthless, will not work and has never ever worked. Will not setup, will not show on television, will not record, of NO VALUE at all!
This was to be a replacement for a Sony dvd/vhs recorder. I thought the Sony manual was poor and very confusing until I got this panasonic. Now I think that, by comparison, the Sony manual was not that bad.
Originally hooked unit up just as the Sony was, transferred cables. Did not work. Tried the various pages of instructions, did not work. Tried every single variation in the manual, did not work. Cannot make work.
Disconnected unit and put Sony back, it is better to use a unit that sometimes has trouble recording than to use a unit that is simply a black brick stuck in my shelving unit.
Consumer Reports rated this model very highly, this is the first time they have let me down so completely.
This is the downside to the Ebay gamble, you purchase something at a really good price and hope that it works when you open the package. Because you know that if it does not work you are simply stuck with a piece of trash, there is no way it is worth the hassle and expense of all that is involved with trying to get a "warranty" repair.
The price is excellent. The product is a little too slow. I bought it because my old one is broken. I also bought it because I hope to transfer my vhs to dvd and I have a lot, especially Walt Disney's cassettes that are very good to watch again with my children and grandchildren. I can listen to mp-3 cd in the dvd section the I don't need anymore a cd player. It's great when you know how to use it. I'm pretty happy of this product I fix myself. I hope now that I have 100 characters because that is all I have to say for now.
as soon as I figure out how everything works I am sure I will love it, though I have not had alot of time to just sit there and experiment with it yet but when I do there is a good chance I will be looking for another one for another room...THANKS
Received unit in a timely fashion, it came complete with all accessories and manuals and was neatly packed. Great ebayer, would buy from again for sure.
