Counterfeit Clubs - How to inspect your clubs.

I was scammed as other reviewers, got a full refund on selling price, but ended up eating $80 in shipping costs after a return. You might be able to tell clones from authentic by carefully inspecting the photos before you buy. Beware photos that are not close up of the clubface or out of focus. Unfortunately, many sellers use stock photos which are misleading and you should beware. If you have already bought clubs, inspect them carefully and consider contacting Callaway for an official inspection if you have any doubts.
I do not pretend to know everything about these clubs or pretend to represent Callaway by any means, but I could tell my clubs were fakes by the following points:
1.) The clubs felt heavy - probably a different swing weight.
2.) The serial number was only nine digits and Callaway uses ten.
3.) The serial number did not check out with Callaway (you can call them through their website and they are very helpful).
4.) The real fusions have a visible seam near the perimeter of the club face where the titanium face is plasma welded to the body. The fakes do not. This may not apply to wide sole fusions which are welded in a different location.
5.) The real fusions do not have numbering on the club face itself.
6.) The numbering on the sole of the clubface was a different font.
7.) The shaft logo reads "RCH System 75" instead of "RCH System 75i"
8.) The shaft logo was sloppy on some clubs.
9.) The shafts were not charcoal grey in color.
10.) The grips had a strong odor of rubber and were not of original quality.
I did not give up the search for fusion irons after this, my first ebay buying disaster. I bought two authentic used sets from big ebay sellers and am very happy. Used clubs are probably less likely to be fakes than New clubs. Buy and bid carefully.

I posted a review for these clubs under "single club" because I was searching for an 'A' wedge. Since most reviews here seem to be for ebay problems, I figured I'd include my full review for the Fusion iron set I bought a while back. I got the used clubs (BTW, genuine Callaways) at a very good price from a very good local golf company but have seen them at close to this price at auction on ebay.
I look for technology that can help improve my iron game regardless of cosmetics or workability.
I look for clubs that do what they 1) are suppose to do as advertised, 2) are a good value and 3) may have been overlooked in the overwhelming glare of the Big Company's advertising.
The Callway Fusion Irons fit the first parameter and fit it better than any iron I have ever used.
Parameter 2? If you buy 'em retail, they just simply cost way too much...and in my opinion, the cost has less to do with R&D, production and materials than with the high cost of marketing. The cost would be a dealbreaker if not for used club sales and ebay. I got my 3-PW set, practically mint, for $475 -- essentially what you'd pay for a relatively good set of OTCTMT (Other-Than-Callaway/TaylorMad
Parameter 3 didn't figure in either...obviously, Callaway products cannot be considered overlooked.
I have been playing Wilson Deep Red II distance Irons. I would have happily still be playing them because they are simply the best Overlooked/Under marketed/Underpriced clubs ever made. My plan was to just keep playing them unless something came along that was a LOT better. I am a mid-handicapper (9.0 -- 12.0 depending on how much I practice and how the short game's going) and the Wilson' simply allowed me to hit the ball with long, mid, and short irons straight and long -- not bad qualities in an iron!. What they don't do is spin the ball much or provide a lot of feel for touch shots. The Wilson's have some distance gaps, but they are manageable. Also, the large head size can make some
lies a bit tough.
The Fusion irons, on the other hand, have none of the drawbacks. Cosmetically, they are nice albeit high-tech looking. At address they are more traditional looking with a topline much thinner than you may expect from Cally.
Thry're accurate, as long as the Wilsons (7 iron= 160) and incredibly forgiving without sacrificing feel. There is adequate feedback to tell exactly where on the face the ball was struck, but mis-hits are handled nicely. There is very little loss of distance or line. You can hit them high, low, knock 'em down and lean on them. Play a fade or draw, but don't expect a lot of cut or hookage.
The long irons are easier to hit than the Wilsons -- and that says a lot. NO club I've ever played had easier to hit long irons. The feel, distance and control are consistant throughout the set.
My shafts are uniflex steels, and your milage may vary -- I've hit Fusions with S-300 shafts and they were a bit longer, but also a bit heavier.
The short irons and wedge are real confidence boosters, and it's easy to pick a target and just go.
I've played (in addition to the Wilsons) Ping ISI and I-3+ Blades, Mizuno MP-32's and have experienced various TaylorMade RAC configurations and must say that, for my game, the Fusions are by far the best fit.

The clubs that I purchased from him were stolen from his UPS pick up, and were not found anywhere. He returned my money asap and also issued me a credit to cover the shipping charge. I would definately buy from him again if he has the clubs that I want.

Extremely pleased with these clubs. They are very forgiving and added 10 yards of distance per club. Virtually no vibration, on most shot you don't feel the club come in contact with the ball.

I've tested this club at the pro shop before , And it was appropriate for my swing, and made me feel good when i hit it. It was came out on 2007, It has superior weight-shifting Fusion Technology and three distinct materials ; TPU SenSert layer system for reduce vibration at impact, lightweight titanium face ,a larger sweet spot and larger effective hitting area. my only complaint is that too expensive when it was new issue. I intend to buy it when its prize going down otherwise i can find the use one on ebay that i can afford it.

Golf ClubsI wanted a new set of clubs and these clubs were exactly how the seller described them. They were in excellent shape, all but a small nick on the seven iron, which the seller said and also said it would not interfere with the performace of the club. Buying Used ClubsThis seller did a very nice job of describing the clubs. Used clubs can be tricky but these were packed well, shipped well and have very good grips. (re-gripping can add a lot to the expense of the purchase.) The clubs have been used for several rounds already and its been a pleasure.

saved about five hundred dollars on this purchase and the clubs were brand new just as described. The clubs are only as good as the swing though i would only recomend buying them if you are serious about your game and are willing to take lessons and have them fetted for your swing

This is my first new set of clubs in 40 years (and my first purchase on eBay). Over several months I've tried several different brands and models. I'm a miserable golfer; my main interest was in "forgiving" clubs. I was attracted by the Callaway caché, but they seem to have done the engineering as far as making a forgiving club. The Pre-owned Callaway web site has a nice comparison tool that rates clubs on their forgiveness, and other properties. BB Fusion score highest in "forgiving." So, based on a little bit of trial and some research, I settled on Big Bertha Fusion irons; and found a used set on eBay at a reasonable price. Now, I've had them a few weeks and played several rounds of golf; and, I'm pretty pleased. They are not a panacea. But, I'm hitting good shots more often. And, there are times when I feel like I've muffed a shot but still get reasonable lift and distance.

I bought these clubs used, but they were in excellent condition. Getting a bit older I wanted to try not only the Fusion irons, but irons with graphite shafts, and senior flex shafts. I like them very much. They set up to the ball nicely and look great. You can really feel the head during the swing. In fact the head feels a bit heavy and the shafts very light, which is what you would expect with graphite/senior shafts. They hit the ball pretty high which is what I was seeking. They are very forgiving clubs, so much so, that sometimes you do not realize you hit it off-center until you look at the impact mark on the clubface. I have played many different types of clubs and I would highly recommend this club and senior shafts to anyone who is beginning to need a little help with distance and height on your shots. The graphite seems to cushion the shock a bit, too. Less aches and pains for us pre-seniors (ha ha).

Great product but winning bid price was less than surrounding items of similiar description. So before you hit the by button or use Paypal make sure it sounds reasonable. You may never see the product no mattter how well it stacks up. Just because the product look great and you won the bid doesn't mean you will ever see the product

I have kplayed with the Callaway Fusion irons for the lpast year. I was surprised to see that they were rated a 3.5/5.0 so I started reading the reviews posted. Everyone who down graded the irons had a bad purchase experience. They, usually, ended up with fake clubs from an unscruptulous seller. This has nothing to do with the quality of the true Callaway Fusion iron. You need to be careful on Ebay and sometimes be content with saving a little and not buying the cheapest set in the auctions. I bought my irons on Ebay and have been very satisfied. I, always, deal with someone who has a lot of positive feedback and is involved in the golf business. I have not found an iron that looks any better at setup or feels more solid at impact.
