Final Fantasy X - An adjustment but a great game!
Review created: 02/13/06(updated 02/13/06)

For any perennial Final Fantasy purchaser this game may come as somewhat of a shock. It's the first Final Fantasy to incorporate vocals from each character and more importantly fail to provide players with the infamous world map. There is a map present where you can travel from town to town, but a series of lines and arrows guides you to your destination, in rather prompt fashion. There is no roaming around on a large world map and leveling up your party crew, which a typical RPG gamer might be used to. This game has far more animations than the previous games in the series. It seems like Square's idea here was to take advantage of the PS2's capabilities while still making a wonderful game simultaneously.

The first two hours into this game I was skeptical. The adjustment was too much for me after playing RPGs on the earlier consoles. Just as Final Fantasy VII was an adjustment for RPG gamers on the PS1, the same stands true for Final Fantasy X on PS2.

You will hear people love and hate on this game. It's true, you either love it or hate it. Many people I've talked to over the years who liked FF8, loved this game. I actually didn't play through it until my second time giving it a shot, some two years after owning it. After being adapted to PS1 and SNES RPGs my whole life I couldn't make the adjustment at first, but surely gave it another attempt. I completed through the whole game and thought it was amazing. The story is great, the battle system and sphere grid is a creative idea, and the animations were well constructed. Not to mention the absolutely wonderful soundtrack this game features.

I rate it as excellent, though it is more than far from the best RPG in the Final Fantasy series.

I will end it with this which should determine your decision, assuming you're a previous player of the Final Fatnasy games. If you're a SNES gamer who didn't like FF7, then this game is certainly not for you. For anyone willing to make the necessary adjustment from their previous RPG play then I would definitely recommend buying Final Fantasy X.

If you can't make the compromise you will not enjoy FFX.

If you're new to the whole RPG scene and have never played a FF game before then I would not recommend starting with this RPG. FF3, FF7, and FF9 should be played before this game.

Final Fantasy X - The Best Yet!
Review created: 12/03/06

I have been an avid Final Fantasy player since the games were first introduced, and I'm as moogle-recognizant as any other self-respecting FF follower. Each installment really tops the other, with continuing improvement, and I'm always happy with a new one. This one, however, really shot off the grid with me.

The story was a gripper from the beginning. Yes, the graphics are nothing short of spectacular, lush and colorful and detailed and unique to almost the point of dizziness. The game play is involved and interesting, allowing you to customize your game play to your own nature to a certain extent. But the story, and the characters, were what really sealed it for me. I don't hear many gamers talk too much about this, maybe it's just an oddity with me, but all the graphics in the world can't make up for a boring or confusing game that doesn't draw you in. From the beginning, the characters stand out with real personalities that shine through, especially with the new voice features and the incredibly lush cut scenes. You know from the beginning what's happening with Tidus and the other characters, and the gameplay is logical and proceeds chronologically, not much wasting time trying to figure out what you're supposed to do next. Young blitzball star Tidus is washed somehow into the future, or at least another dimension, and finds friends who will help him try to return home while he assists them in their endeavors.

The tough yet softhearted Tidus searches to return home while helping his new friends with their troubles; the boyish Wakka is the kind of best friend every guy should have and is an ebullient and lovable character; central character the lovely Yuna (Tidus' lady love)is beautiful and delicate looking which belies her strength of character and of faith; the legendary stern Auron is the seasoned pro that everyone looks up to, a font of wisdom and strength; the beautiful yet waspish Lulu is not as tough on the inside as out; the reticent Ronzo giant Kimahri is another pillar of strength for the inexperienced members of the group; and the upbeat and positive Rikku brings a splash of youthful innocence and delight. These completely believable characters and their unusual story make the rest of the superior aspects of the game such a joy.

There are lots of changes in the battle system and leveling up just like every other new installment, and the grid is an unusual and not overly difficult way of advancing. Everyone get their own customized equipment, and the magic spells are pretty interchangeable, which is a reverse on the usual setup. There are moogles, ships, airships, chocobas, monsters and bosses galore, a cool mini-game called blitzball that wasn't half bad, as well as friendship, love, revenge, betrayal, redemption, courage, and everything in between.

The different areas that the groups travels are another great highlight of the game, making it superior over any other I've played. I LOVED the Thunder Plains, with their ghostly looking lightning rod towers and craggy slopes; the sprawl of the Calm Lands; the snowy mountain peaks, underwater caverns, highroad, and desert locations; the unique cities and the temples, and the familiar powerful aeons.

This is a MUST for any serious RPG gamer, and one you'll enjoy over and over again. I would recommend a guide to help you with some of the side quests, as they enrich the gaming experience for you and are not easy to complete otherwise.

  BradyGames FFX Strategy Guide
Review created: 09/04/08

Of all the guides that I've seen for Final Fantasy X, this is far and away the best. It gives fantstic detail about every stage in the game, great boss strategies, and even comes with a full map of the Sphere Grid. The walkthrough is perfect, with almost no spoilers, lending to the whole guide an air of "do-it-yourself."

Final Fantasy X- Gams & Guide
Review created: 08/25/08(updated 08/25/08)

Everyone knows that all Final Fantasy games offer truly amazing adventures. Each game delivers beautiful visuals, remarkable music, an epic story, and loveable characters. Final Fantasy X is no exception. Putting the controlller down tends to be a bit difficult, especially after only a few hours of game play. Final Fantasy X contains tons of quests as well as subquests which will keep you wanting more and more. These quests are well worth the effort for they normally reward you with rare items and power ups which the player can utilize during their journey. Dedicated players usually aim to complete all subquests regardless of how difficult it may be, and sometimes usually miss several of them.
Fortunately for them, there is a guide for Final Fantasy X which reveals all secrets the game has to offer. This guide contains many pages of detailed information such as character and enemy profiles, full colored maps, skills, weapons, items, and step-by-step walk throughs throughout the entire game. Basically, with this guide, there is no way you can get stuck in a situation where you can't figure out what to do next . So even if beginners pick up this game for the very first time, they will be able to venture through Final Fantasy X with ease as well as in awe.

Get a PS3 absolutely free! This is 100% legitimate
Review created: 08/01/08
by:

I’m sure you've seen various 'free' gift scams on the Internet, but the following offers are NOT scams in any way, shape or form. This method has been covered by respectable sources such as CNN, MSNBC, Fox, Wired and G4.
The reason these companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all the referrals. All you have to do is post it on eBay. They use us as advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money that goes toward yours and my free gift.

There are many well known legitimate offers to choose from such as Blockbuster online, Stamp.com, Gamefly which are services you would regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use them to get a free PS3 or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 30 day free trial and it never cost me a penny and I received credit for it the same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you. After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer a few people (depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link.
Step 1: Click this link
http://www.YourPS34free.com/index.php?ref=4991526
Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and best).
Step 3: Complete just 1 free trial offer (like Stamps.com, You will start a trial and can cancel it right after with no charge at all.)
Step 4: Refer to people to do the same. Just do what I’m doing and use eBay.
Step 5: Receive your PS3 for FREE!

For proof that this is for real, click on the link below. It's the
company that is behind everything.

  RPG with voices
Review created: 07/31/08

love the voices of the characters, they really fit the personalities. Yuna is hot without blown out breasts. X-2 is better but this is next best story line since 7. If you like RPG and im an old D & D guy, this game is one of the best. Square is the word in RPG...

  Hours of Fun!
Review created: 07/07/08

This is the kind of game you can easily spend 100 hours playing. That is a remarkable value. The Sphere Screen is weird at first, but after some practice, it is easy and really gives you control. While the story is fairly easy to get through, though time consuming, some of the side games are extremely difficult and you have to win them to get most of the legendary weapons. Any Final Fantasy Fan will love this game.

  A solid RPG
Review created: 06/19/08

Final Fantasy X is a game that is solid in all areas. It was a highly anticipated game mostly due to the fact it was going to be the first PS2 Final Fantasy. Not only did it deliver, but it delivered well.

The story was very solid. It was based heavily on a love story, which has been prominent in the past couple FF's before it, but this one did the job well. The character development in the story was superb. Although the story seemed cliche to me, it did not bore me, which is more important. I kept wanting to go back and play it more.

The gameplay was standard RPG fare. The new addition of the sphere grid, however, was a great addition. It allowed further customization of characters, and allowed you to choose the path that each of your characters were to take. This allowed for somewhat customized characters.

The graphics in this game are still great, and this is a game that is 4 years old. Not only that, the sound is also up to par with other Final Fantasy soundtracks.

Overall, this is a great game that I think any RPG fan should play.

I bought this game because I had played it once and never finished it. It's almost like watching a movie and never seeing the end. I was very happy to see that the game that I received was in great shape and plays beautifully. Now, I can finally finish my movie. =)

  Final Fantasy X
Review created: 04/30/08

This game is freakin sweet! The battle setup is cool and the leveling system is unique. The story-line is also top notch. The only problem I have with this Final Fantasy is the freakin minigames you have to play in order to obtain the character's ultimate weapons with their ultimate abilities. The most annoying among them being blitzball and the chocobo race. Other than that, this game is pretty awesome. I would recommend it to any Final Fantasy Fan.

Review created: 03/25/08
by:

I like all Final Fantasy games and have almost the entire series so far, the only one we're missing is a Playstation version of Final Fantasy III. This one, however, is vastly different from all the others and I'm not yet sure if I like it or not. I feel that it spends WAY to much time on the story and nowhere NEAR enough play time. I hope it will get better as i get further.

  Final Fantasy a personal favourite
Review created: 03/08/08

FF10 or also known Final Fantasy 10 is very nice is many different ways. The game provides very nice CG movie graphics at certain point of the game and the gameplay is very easy to adapt to compared to certain games. Even the most beginner of games will find that adapting to the gameplay is not as difficult as it may seem to be. This game is also very expansive and the story line is very superb i must say.

The song and the end of the game is also very touching and it so happens that i really like the song a lot. Overall this game is also a must have.
