  Good game but complicated

Well, there is no fast forward or button to skip through the semi-boring animated scenes, but the battle system is definitely one of the best I have seen since I have play Disgaea, its sister game. I am usually not a big fan of these strategy games, but this was an exception. The animation is old, you can tell but don't let that fool ya!! Its takes a lot to get through just the first few levels. So it definitely keeps you on your toes. I decided to buy this game since my husband was such a fan of it sister game, Disgaea. He beat Disgaea in about 24 hours, maybe a little more, but still I consider that pretty impressive.
All in all, this was very good game and worth the money I spent. I would definitely suggest this game to any of my gaming friends. ^_^

From the makers of the international hit, Disgaea, La Pucelle Tactics is the story of a young female demon hunter that needs a serious attitude adjustment! This game is tactical battling game that everyone will love!

Another hit for PS2 SRPG games Woo!!
Review created: 08/03/06

Like most, if not all mastiff, atlus, NIS games on the PS2, this one is another huge hit for SRPG fans. I'll never get sick of classic playstayle and graphics. Mix that with some great jap-anime style and you have a hit.

On the other hand, if you don't like old graphics and extremely slow/long games, I suppose you should stay FAR away :)

La Pucelle Tactics

Type of Game: Strategy/RPG
System: PS2
Game Developer: Nippon Ichi Software

La Pucelle Tactics is the second strategy/RPG game in from Nippon Ichi Software; the first game was Disgaea Hour of Darkness. In La Pucelle Tactics you play Prier, a young orphan raised to follow the teachings of the Church of the Holy Maiden. You start her adventures with her younger brother Culotte, and sister Alouette as Prier begins her long battle against the forces of darkness. Before each battle you get some story progression and some slapstick humor. One of the coolest features in this game is that you can capture monsters by purifying them, once captured they will join your side. Another feature is you level up your weapons by causing chain reactions by purifying the colored squares that can also do some major damage to your enemies. There is a dark world the gives you some great items, and some exclusive monsters only in the dark world. The game has multiple endings, hidden bosses, and loads of items that will keep you playing hours and hours on end. Also after you meet special requirements you can even capture boss monsters to do your bidding. I have played over 110 hours and still haven’t seen all the endings and I can’t stop playing it. If you want an easy fun game that has a fun and engaging story you must play La Pucelle Tactics. Are you still reading this go on and start playing La Pucelle Tactics!

My review score for La Pucelle Tactics = 9.5
(Score is 1 is throw it out and 10 is a must buy!)

Enthusiast of tactical gaming will undoubtably find some jems in this title from the creators of Disgaea. The characters are fun. The boards show a moderate level of challenge that can be overcome with a little time and thought. You can recruit and train monsters you fight, you can have 8 people on the map at once. The story, demon hunters hunting demons, is a bit two dimentional and sappy. The actual time it takes to get through a dialog scene was too long, there should be some opt out function. If you are looking for the next great experience in gaming this is not it, but if you want to spend 30-40 hours running through a game that will make you think about your next move go ahead and pick it up.
It has tons of extra stuff you can do that is optional, making super powerful wepons, running through optional levels fighting obscenely high level monsters, and making circles with lines of light and setting them off in chain reactions.... It doesn't stack up to Disgaea but it was a nice way to spend some off time.

I like this game very well.

To me this game was like the opposite of Desigea and it is showing the good side of the world. The graphics may not be as good as some games that look like movies, but that is okay because the graphics fit the game very well. I once owned it but I had to sell it for personal reasons. I wanted to get the game again so I bought it and hopefully this time I will be able to beat the game.

The Anti-PlayStation-RPG RPG: La Pucelle Tactics
Review created: 08/12/04
by: theqat -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
It's not other PS2 RPGs. Also, it's simply excellent.

Cons:
If any, the overtly cute character designs and the sometimes clunky menus.

I bought a PlayStation 2 for the first time on Sunday, August 8th, and with it purchased La Pucelle Tactics and a second copy of Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, because my original copy of the latter (originally bought to play on someone else's console) is scratched to the point of no return. In retrospect, having mostly bought the console itself to play Gran Turismo 4 when it comes out, I could have settled for LPT by itself, because it's now devouring great swaths of my free time after work. For those not familiar with La Pucelle, it's an RPG with a "tactical" combat system, which basically means...
