Nintendo GameCube - Game console

I love my GameCube. There are a lot of games available for it and they tend to be very fun and clever. The graphics are beautiful and the games run well. I haven't had any mechanical problems in 3 years.

Gamers who want the latest, cutting edge fastest processors will probably want a newer system. The Game Cube came out in late 2001. But I have been very satisfied with it.

The GameCube was replaced by the Nintendo Wii in December of 2006. So if you buy one, make sure to get the accessories too while they are all still available.

You'll need a memory chip for each person who will be playing it, to save games on. Don't try to share chips. Someone can erase someone else's saved game that they've been playing for weeks. And get an extra controller (joystick) since they wear out. Nintendo is still making the controllers new, so they will be available for a while.

GameCube is very affordable, and it's simple to hook up. It was designed for kids and teens to be able to carry it around to each others' houses to play multi-player games.

There are a lot of game titles available for the Cube, which is nice. A game console is only as good as the games that are available for it. An internet search turns up many sites with reviews of GameCube games and lists of the top rated favorites. That's how I choose which games to try. You can get plenty of detailed information about the games because the system has been out for a while.

Reading up on the available games is one of the most important steps in choosing a game console. Everyone wants different things, so see if the game console you're considering has games that look exciting to you.

Buying games used is half the price of buying them new. If you want to keep the price down, it's a good way to go. Sometimes the paper instruction manual is a little crummy with the used ones. But you can get all of that info online. Many games even have web sites where you can print the manual from a .pdf file. I've never had a problem with the disc itself when running a used game.

Some of the GameCube games are designed to hook up to GameBoy (hand-held game system) games. It gives you extra features, magical game items, etc. Linking is never essential to win the game, but it can be nice. You will need the Game Link Cable if you want to do this. And a GameBoy handheld game, with the corosponding game cartridge.

I've had great fun with my GameCube. I recommend it.

I have been wanting one ever sence I played my Sister-in-laws. That was a few years ago. I just got lucky on winning this one.
I love it. It's just like a brand new one that has never been used. I will love it even more Friday when I get my Zelda game.
My Husband loves it also. He plays quite a bit.

Like the console gamecube, great control and and graphics, extremely portable, game parties! The console is not really loud, or does not get so hot, really fun.

Yes there are several new game consoles out right now (2008), But the Gamecube is a great buy for people who love to play all kinds of games!

My daughter wanted the gamecube, so I bid on several with the hopes of winning one. I won both, learning the lesson not to bid on more than one auction of the same item! We ended up keeping both as everyone in the house loved them. Both items were as described and we were well pleased with the turnout. The only thing I have disliked & this is with most of the auctions I have won, is the lack of communication after the sale is complete. It really would be nice to hear from the sellers to know when to expect our packages,instead of waiting & guessing.

The product came quickly and was well packaged. Only problem is that gamecube works for some games but not all. Determined that it is gamecube and not games causing the problem. Tried cleaning--didn't solve problem. Basically satisfied.

I've always been a big supporter of Nintendo because of their "backwards compability" capabilities. You can play your ORIGINAL Game Boy games on your TV through your Super Nintendo with a "Super Game Boy" adapter. A Game Boy Player for the Nintendo GameCube let's you play your gameboy, gameboy color, and game boy advance games on your TV as well. Your GameCube games could also be played using the newest Nintendo Wii Video Game system. I've had a Jet Black Nintendo GameCube (with Gameboy Player) for years now so I really wasn't looking to buy another GameCube. Yesterday (April 12th), I went to a local thrift store on my lunch. I stumbled across a Nintendo GameCube Indigo that included the OEM A/V cable and power supply cord for only $7.00. (No controllers...) I didn't need any controllers anyways because I already had five OEM GameCube controllers (Three Jet Black, One Platinum, and one wireless Wavebird) I also have a MadCatz MicroCon Clear controller as well. (Even though the MadCatz controller is an "aftermarket" controller, I've never had any problems with it.) Anyways... I just couldn't pass up this $7.00 gamble. If this Gamecube worked, then I just scored one heck of a good deal. If it didn't, I'm only out $7.00 which the A/V cable and power supply cord are worth at least that. My Jet Black GameCube in the living room so I grabbed a few games and hooked up the "new to me" Indigo GameCube to the TV in my bedroom. I put a game into the unit and turned it on. I had to set the date/time but after that, I received a "no disc" message. Uh-oh... aw nuts!! It doesn't work!! ARGHHH!! I turned it off, turned the GameCube upside down, turned it on again and... IT WORKED!! Whoo-hoo!! I just got a steal of a deal!! After reading the disc, I turned the GameCube rightside up and continued playing the game. Instead of turning the GameCube upside down everytime that I turned it on, I wiped the laser lens with a microfiber cloth, blew out the inside with compressed air and now the unit works just fine. Not bad for only $7.00!!

UPDATE!! Purchased ANOTHER Nintendo GameCube Indigo on Thursday April 18th at the same thrift store for only $5.00!! (Cosmetically, this unit was in a little better condition than the one that I had purchased the previous week.) This unit did not have any controllers, power supply cord, or A/V cable. BUT... it did have a NBA Street V3 game in it. Took this one home, plugged it in, fired it up AND THIS ONE ALSO WORKED!! (The game by itself sells for $17.99 used at Game Stop.) I just got one heck of a deal this time as well!! (Only problem now is that it'll cost me more to buy a replacement OEM power supply cord and A/V Cable then what the unit by itself cost me!!) OR... I can just say that I bought the game for $5.00 and got the Gamecube for free. Either way, I totally got my money's worth and I'm definately not complaining...

In terms of cost-fun ratio, nothing beats plopping down $30 for a system and less than $10 per controller (as of March 2008). Considering the vastly popular four-player games (Super Smash Brothers Melee, the Mario Party series, and Mario Kart, etc) available for the system, you should have no problem getting instant multiplayer gratification. Additionally, finding fantastic single-player games should be no problem--the Mario, Zelda, and Metroid installments (for example) for the GameCube were all highly reviewed and are a lot of fun. In the end, however, it's the party gaming aspect that gives the Gamecube the longest lasting value--good 4-player gaming will always be fun, and the Gamecube's graphics are just enough to be acceptable during this kind of gameplay. I highly recommend it for this aspect alone.

The Gamecube used to be a Great console for a year tops, but is now a console for a quickie, what I mean is if your in a hurry play a quick 10-30 min game and still be on time for that appointment. (Quickie). The gamecube is very simple to use, gameplay varies upon game. Graphics are tolerable. However I would recommend Xbox360 or PS3 for Graphics and performance wise, but for a cheap solution to kill some time and give a kid something to do with his/her time this would be it, or a game-boy/DS would work as well.

I love this thing. I thank the previous owner a ton for letting this go up for bid. It was cold, however, and made some sounds when it was loading disks. Though, it soon got over that. I love it so much I play all the time. I will be soon getting some more games for this machine and the kid's love it too. Thanks so much, I reccomend that ebayer. <3.

Considering the cost of Wii game system the game to me was the best choice for my budget. It has all the graphics of the Wii but none of the extras like remote controllers. Still a good system and some good games to boot.
