Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling (2007)

I don't think I ever waited on Christmas like I did for this book and Rowling did not disappoint me.

Deathly Hollows picks up right where The Half Blood Prince left off and Rowling doesn't miss a beat.

Our three favorite heroes know what they have to do but only have a few obscure clues to work from. They must find their own solutions on how to accomplish their misson. While this is a theme common in the other 6 books, this time there is no safety net provided by the adults. The fate of the world rests on their shoulders alone.

As they go from one adventure to the next, gaining (at first) seemingly useless information and narrowly avoiding death, they slowly piece together how everything must fit together. Even then Rowling is not yet done: the solution itself is a test, and the hardest challenge Harry ever had to take.

The book is dark and bloody, more so than The Order of the Pheonix. In case the reader had any doubt about that, Voldermort sets it straight in the very first chapter. The body count continues to go up and Rowling gives no indication of playing favorites. Nobody, and I mean nobody, is safe until the last spell is cast, somewhere in the last 10 pages or so.

While it was sad seeing so many characters I had grown attached to die, I did not have the same sense of dispair that I did with Pheonix. I never doubted for one page that good would win in the end and I could take comfort in that their sacrafices would not be in vain.

While I sincerly hope that Ms. Rowling will continue to write, I believe it is time for a new series. Harry Potter was as close to perfection as I'm likely to see in this world. I don't want that delicate balance upset.

I have been following this series in audio book format for about the last six years. The stories themselves are exceptional, giving a great presentation of the turmoil of life and emotions of a boy growing up in the face of enormous challenges. If you enjoy hearing a good story while travelling as I do then I recommend this book. The quality of the acting in Jim Dale's reading of the book is great and the sound is clear. The overall experience is thoroughly enjoyable.

I love this book it's my favorite and in audio it's awesome. Jim Dale does awesome voices and Rowling just rocks. A+++!!!

Excellent book, and a joy to listen to on CD. Jim Dale's performance is outstanding. As the last book in the series it completes JK Rowlings tale to perfection. Not a book for young children, despite this being a "children's series".

i love the book it is hard for me to understand what i ready sometimes.and this book is so easy to listen to.i love jim the man that reads the book does it so well that you are hanging on every word.i have all the harry potter audio books and they are great.i am ill an i love to listen to this book and if i need to i can replay a part of it as often as i like and i can also listen to it as many times as i want to and i will be relisting to it many times.

the cd cases were in perfect condition and the cd looked barley used. I would have thought that it was all brand new. I was very pleased with my purchase, it made a wonderful birthday present for me sister. Thank you!

Hearing the Potter books gives them a whole new dimension. I spend a lot of time in my car each week and books on cd not only keep me awake, but also riveted to the story. I am a fairly big Harry Potter geek and have read all the books as well as enjoy listening to them. Enjoy!

Great ending to a great story. I wonder if there will be another book about Dumbledore's early days.

This is the final book in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. The Deathly Hallows ties up many of the loose ends in the series, but also offers many possibilities for Ms. Rowling or any author she may allow to use the world she has created. The Epilogue in the Deathly Hollows leaves this door wide open.

I have discussed these books with many other parents and I would like to address people's concerns about magic. People talk about magic being "of the devil". First and foremost this is a work of fiction. Children learn to succeed by using their imaginations. Harry Potter starts life at a serious disadvantage as an orphan raised by selfish, fearful, people. Harry remains a kind, compassionate child as his world changes in ways he cannot begin to imagine. He befriends scary beings and people who are vastly different from himself.

Throughout the series Harry exhibits the highest standards of nobility and courage. Parents need to recognize the magic as imagination and see that the underlying theme of these books is the struggle between good and evil. Through Harry and his friends good wins and evil is destroyed.

The world needs Harry Potter.

love all of the harry potter books and movies. was having a hard time reading it because i would fall asleep while reading drive a truck and would only read when i lie down. so I did the next best thing,bought it on cd and was able to finish it. i recomend this book or cd to all it is alittle heavier than the others but all the characters could not always stay children right? can not wait till the movie comes out!!

I've read 1000s and 1000s of books, all really good works of literature. This is the very best book I've ever read -- ever. The only catch is that you really must have read all of the 6 preceeding books in order to have a full appreciation of what this gifted author has done. Ms. Rowling has written a story, from book 1 to book 7, that is appealing to all ages. The characters, scenes, details -- all are so truly superb. Listening to the book, read by the AWESOME Jim Dale, is sheer luxury. Mr. Dale reads all the Harry Potter audio books, and it's no surprise he's won awards for doing so. Listening is a different skill than reading, and once you've read all these books, to go back and listen to them is a joy. You notice details differently, and the story is swirling in your mind, waiting eagerly for the next rise in the car so we can listen to more. My children and I have actually stayed in the garage listening to a part of the book until we could get to a point where we could bear to stop until next time. I highly recommend this book, as well as the other HP books. This is the ULTIMATE, and it wraps up so many incredible details and storylines -- amazing!

I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter series and hate to see it end. I had all of the others and desperatly needed to hear the ending after reading the book several times. I just hope the movie is as good as the book if not I know many people will be very disappointed.

I am a big Harry Potter fan, I have been since its release date in the United States. I was reading HP before it became popular in the states.
I have read all the books several times and continue to watch the movies.
I had purchased HP6 audiobook through itunes store and enjoyed listening to it.
Then I purchased HP7 CD audiobook to download and listen to on my ipod.
Only problem was that it downloaded into my music files and I couldn't get it under my audiobooks file.
Other than that . . . I enjoy listening to Harry Potter audiobooks almost as much as I love reading them.
Nothing is better than sitting down and reading a book.
Audio books are great for travel or relaxing in bed.

I love the world with all the characters that Rowling has created for our enjoyment. I've read the books, and thought that I would like to hear it for a change. What a treat!
