I need to disagree with the grandmother who gave this book a 3/5. I think she missed the point of the story, which everyone seems to think is cute. It's really a countdown to extinction done in a kid-friendly way meant to education while entertain. I use this book for my museum's Dino Dig class for preschoolers and I use the finger puppets made to go along with the story to end the class session. The kids all think it's a hoot and a bunch of fun, but I'm sure to point out in the end, the scientist is sad that all the dinosaurs have gone extinct, and I try to give them a little mini-lesson on saving species before they die off - which I'm sure is lost on a bunch of 3-5 year olds. Overall, though, I think this book is great and, though it can be a tongue twister to read aloud, it introduces kids to a host of dinosaurs. (Sometimes the kids can pronounce the names better than I can!)
Colorful, tactle, and great illustrations, but it still requires the parents to read to the child which is just what I think needs to happen. More parent child time together. I bought it because I have seen this series and I know it's value.
It is a nice size book for travel or diaper bag. My son loves the eyes and it is one of the books I can count on him picking to have me read him everyday. It is not too scary, but we don't read it at night. We stick to it during the day. Nice board book that is sturdy for little hands.
I saw this book in a Dr. office and was facinated by the eyes. I got to have at home when the kids come over. They all love it and have big smiles on their faces. It is great to see. Thanks, Frank : )
My grandson LOVES dinosaurs and this book looked so cute. It was very cute when we got it since the eyes move and it's very clever. However, when I read through it I found that I was a little concerned about the content. It was a little raw for a 3 year old. So, before I gave it to my grandson, I got permission from my daughter-in-law and son. They told me since he couldn't read, they would read it to him and change some of the words/phrases. Just read this yourself before you buy it.
I loved this book the first time I read it. My little boy loves this book and loves to carry it everywhere! The eyes that move around are great. The text rhymes in such a cute way, although some of the dinosaur names are hard to pronounce. I would definitely practice before you read this excellent book to your little ones!
This is such a cute book. It is a take off on ten little monkeys jumping on the bed--but this is dinosaurs. The author was very creative and did each dinosaur differently--like pachycephalosaurus--then she says boneheads--it's cute--you have to read it! The rhyme scheme works so well. It is a great book.
