Pros:
Spin-off from TV show, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, involved story

Cons:
none

In the most underhanded move ever made by a television show, Chris Carter (the creator and producer of the X-Files television show) decided to make an X-Files movie. The catch to this whole thing, is that he made it a continuation of the television show itself. What this meant, was that at the end of the season of the television show, they left a cliffhanger that people had to go see in the theaters to find out the ending to. Being an avid viewer of the show, this left me really upset, because I really wanted to know where the cliffhanger was going to lead! But, being a lover of the big...

Pros:
Intriguing story, wonderful characters, very suspenseful

Cons:
None

So I m an X-Files junkie. I love the show, the movie (still waiting for the second one), and I ve got a soundtrack for the show too. The X-Files is just so wonderful and captivating, and I m always just dying to see what happens next (well I m not really dying to see what happens so much, I ve seen every episode so I know what s going to happen, but beside the point ) I never really thought much of the show before I started watching it. I just thought it was that weird show about aliens running around. But the X-Files is so much more. It s about the plight of two FBI agents who are trying to..

Pros:
great characters, interesting story, great music and effects

Cons:
part of an overly complex mythology, hard to put faith in the revelations

The X Files had just finished up its fifth season when the movie Fight the Future hit theatres. Half a season past the series half-way mark the movie carries on the conspiracy theory mythology, and takes the alien threat to the next level. Previously on The X Files the department was shut down and Mulder s office burned to cinders. Possible evidence of alien life was present in a strange child who was kidnapped out of the hands of the FBI. Mulder s belief in the extra-terrestrial had been rekindled, but maybe he didn t quite have the fire that he used to. So here comes the movie. Mulder.

Pros:
Suspenseful, good sense of adventure.

Cons:
Confusing; relies too heavily on the show; melodramatic.

"The X-Files: Fight The Future" poses a dilemma since it's not so much inspired by the popular show, as it is an extension of it. Not being a fan of the show, am I qualified to view the film, since I have little background on the basic story? Yes, because as a film critic I must remain unbiased before viewing anything, and in this case my unfamiliarity allowed me to see the film completely within its context. What I saw was a terrific thriller trapped behind a confusing, sloppy script. The story is self-contained, but many of the details are rooted in the series which allows the film to take..

An Elaborate Arc To The Big Screen

Pros:
Good acting, nice character development, interesting story

Cons:
Often convoluted, Somewhat problematic in the overall mythos

I've long said, to any who would listen, that the main problem with "The X-Files" was that creator Chris Carter did not know from the beginning where the show was going. That is to say in his mythology episodes for the series, he did not know on day one what the backstory was, who the key players were and where the show was going to go with them all. "The X-Files" movie, preview titled "Fight The Future," though it does not appear as such on screen, is the film debut of "The X-Files" and it wisely tells an X-File Mythology story. When a Federal Building in Texas is blown up, Agents Mulder...
