This is where ALL the famous lines came from! "Here's Looking at You Kid" or "Loiue, this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!" and many more. A must see for its wittiness, it's historic importance specially at the time of war.
Outstanding music with an interesting story. "Casablanca" is a Bogart classic - and a classic in American films. A must-see WWII film about northern Africa (which is fairly rare at this stage). To discuss films, this is one of the basics since almost everything about it is the basic reference. The HD DVD format really cleans up the original presentation noticeably through re-mastering and is probably THE version needed by an expert and quite possibly the best currently available version on the market (this is the 2006 issue). The bonuses which are supplied with the film are nice and provided further insight into this American legend movie. Please note the review is based on the movie, not the seller.
I was relatively late coming to view Casablanca; but when I did finally see it, I instantly knew why so many people consider it to be their favorite movie of all time. It has it all, a love story, intrigue, memorable characters and scenes, and a perfect ending. It is absolutely amazing that the results were so splendid considering that the filming was troubled almost every step of the way. The script was rewritten on almost a daily basis and a suitable finale was a mystery until the tail end of production. Regarding the high definition disc: The HD does wonders with this WWII era film, rendering it as crisp and vibrant as it was when it first graced theater screens and the sound - with a top-notch sound system, is all that one could ask. Even though HD DVD technology is effectively dead, this disc remains a treasured addition to any videophile's collection.
What's not to love...this is the mother of all chick flicks! I had to have this to introduce the best movie ever to another generation of young women. This movie has it all, love, betrayal, suspense, reconciliation and of course a great song.
It one of my favorite movies of all time , a classic Love all about the movie Got a new HD laptop and watched it on the way to Hawaii. The resolution is great and so is the entertainment Sue
Casablanca has it all: great script, great directing, fantastic acting, and the most electrifying romance on the silver screen: Bogart and Bergman.
This review is for the HD-DVD of the film. Wonderful to see this movie in High Definition. Obviously, it wasn't filmed in high definition, but the transfer is buttery smooth and richly defined.
Newbies to Casablanca should be patient--understanding the situation refugees found themselves in Casablanca can be confusing. The whole "unoccupied" Casablanca is tough to get the mind around. Read up a bit on Vichy goverment in WWII. It'll help.
Enjoy this movie. It'll become a favorite for you as time goes by.
