Inside Man (2006, DVD)

I have always liked Denzel Washington in about any movie he acts in. This movie was no exception. If you like a good action flick with some curve balls thrown in, this is your movie.

I liked the suspense that led to the twist at the end of the movie. The only flaw is that it was quite long; and my thought was ok, lets get it over with boys! All in all it's a good movie, to sit back eat some popcorn and enjoy!

Though if I had cast this flick I would have made Jody Foster one of the robbers..This film can get boring in spots..but it does make up for it..Well written and perfectly cast this film will have you on the edge of your seat..the ending was not one I espected and that is what I love most about suspense films..a good suspense film will have you sitting with your mouth hanging open at the end saying "what the..." Denzel Washington as always plays a tough as nails sweet as sugar cop every City should have one like him..Kudos to everyone involved in this movie..

I bought this movie because I am a fan of Clive Owen. He did a great job in
this film. Jodie Foster put in a good performance also. This movie will keep
you guessing right up until the very end. Well worth the money.

This is the most clever "Heist Movie" ever written. And, Spike Lee's direction is on the money, too!

I was looking for a cheap movie and this one is in very good condition and no complaints! Great buy!

Very well made film. If you have seen John Q, this movie will be another movie for the permanent collection. Denzel Washington makes this bank heist situation feel authentic and original. There are many surprises. Enjoy.

This movie is well worth every penny spent on it!!!! It has tons of action, suspense and even a little humor.
This is a movie that has to be watched from beginning to end and what an ending!!!!!!!! AAA++++

This movie keeps you guessing about what is really happening all the way thru the movie!

Clive Owen is excellent as the bad guy,
and Denzel is good as always!

The only thing was the cliches....
cops are racist, white powerful people are corrupt,
etc, etc... but otherwise this Spike Lee movie is a good
feature film to watch!

The Inside Man, starring Denzel Washinton, Clive Owen, and Many, Many More is an amazing suspensful movie. This is guranteed to be a great Friday night date movie. Of course anything Denzel is in is usually dynamite, this film stood out. Anything I can write just won't do it justice.

I can simply tell you that my jaw was dropped through most of this film. This movie flowed with such grace, and ends just perfectly. Now, nothing more, I wouldn't want to ruin this great movie, go and RENT it tonight.

this is an excellent movie. I am a huge Denzel Washington fan, and I saw this movie at the theater when it first came out. This is another great performance by a great actor!

this was a movie about the perfect bank robbery.... man robs the bank and plans it out so no one can acurtatly pin point him or his accomplaces, he doesnt steal one single cent so it becomes not worth investigating, and the plot is WOW....
the owner of the bank knows the robbery is to steal something personal, and very private so he sends in someone to try and make sure this happens, the rule is "my item is in a box, and either the box is destroyed or make sure its never opened" ..... when the robber gets a hold of the box he has something priceless to the owner of the bank so much so that he didnt need to steal the money from the vault.....
the movie has a very unpredictable plot and it works really well!!!

This was an excellent movie, plus Denzel Washington is my hero. The seller was very good to work with.

And to think, I didn't even want to watch this movie at first. A friend had to talk me into it. But what an unusual TWIST!

Maybe its me but I dont feel complete after watching an open-ending movie; especially those movies where the end is left open for a sequel. Inside Man is clearly could be one of these movies, but Denzel in a sequel? Has Denzel ever done a sequel? If so, let me know the title so I can review it. The Inside Man overall has its good and bad characteristics, but its still a definite add to the DVD collection.

Since I am a long-term Denzel fan, I felt compelled to purchase The Inside Man when it was released - but I was kind of skeptical in buying it because of mixed reviews that I have read, not from professional critiques but from the general public. (See Yahoo and Rotten Tomatoes) Most say that it was an excellent action suspense movie, others say the opposite. What do I say?

I say that Denzel is always at his best in films because he bathes himself in not only the script but the character. I suppose that being from the East Coast gives him the advantage at playing a Northeastern slick-talking detective. Proof of this is shown in his performance in damn near all his classics - He Got Game, Malcolm X and Mo' Better Blues and oddly enough Training Day. What more to say, Denzel is the man, he proves it consistently.

Clive Owen on the other hand seems to have the same boring persona in many of his recent flicks - very relaxed, slow when speaking, almost as if his mind is always on another planet. (See Derailed, Sin City, The Rich Man's Wife) In Inside Man, he is all of the previously listed but at the same time very witty. Honestly, to rob a bank, you have to be, right? Somewhat, watch the movie for more details. To a degree I enjoyed his character.

Why exactly did they include Jodie Foster into the equation I am clueless on - maybe to balance the testosterone within the script is my guess. Her character really didnt provide much spice to the script, nor did it take anything away. Maybe she was added to the list of high paid actors to boost the "I want to see that" ratings among movie goers. The DVD cover states that she is a "...broker with an agenda" but when you watch the movie, the agenda doesnt do much to liven the film up. They could have done with out her character or boosted her agenda a few more notches.

From a director stand point - this wasnt a typical Spike Lee film. The only thing typical that can be singled out is the infamous "floating" scene that Spike incorporates in all his films. But outside of that this was a typical cop movie that had little action to keep you awake, and more events that force you to think (or possibly fall asleep). Dont get me wrong, I love a movie that causes one to think, but only to a certain degree in cop movies. I mean c'mon, even CSI balances out the science from the blood spilled - so I would think a multi-million dollar film would do the same. All things considered, Lee did a good job at stepping out of the box in this film and should be respected regardless.

In the end - there really is no closure, Denzel's character realizes that he has something in his possession that keeps him linked to the man he was chasing (Clive Owen), thus the open ending comment from earlier. Sequel? Very much a possibility, but I will more than likely not watch this one on opening night either. For Denzel fan's, despite mixed reviews, add this one to your collection as he is always great, but if you are looking for a lot of gun fire and action - dont look for The Inside Man to satisfy your adventure needs.

I saw this movie at the theatres it has excellent action and a great ending. The actors in it are top notch. The plot is my favorite aspect of the movie.

Decided to buy it for a family member who loves the movie and wants to own it. We really enjoyed the movie and the seller was super!

This is one of the best movies director Spike Lee has ever done. I've been a fan of his for sometime now and this movie just proves that he can compete with the best of them. Keep up the good work Spike Lee, wonderful movie.. Thumbs Way Up!!

We have watched it twice. We liked the creativity of it, how know one get excited, Know one really gets hurt but yet you don't know that until the end. It is a good movie with lots of twists.
