In this movie we see James Earl Jones and Richard Harris at their quiet best. It is a film of emotion and feeling from non-expressive types, so in that the movie is right on. It doesn't use the "tricks og the trade" to get you excited or into the plot, but uses the strength of the story. Although it diviates a bit from the book, it is a wonderful film. Highly recommended
The performances by James Earl Jones and Richard Harris are very believable and well thought out in their interpretation. You will become involed and realize that the priest played by Mr. Jones is very human in his distress as is Mr. Harris. Even though they are of a different race, they are both fragile human beings.
I bought this CD after reading Alan Paton's book of the same name. It is a thought provoking story line and the movie depicts the book true to the authors story. There is beautiful scenery, emotion and self-seeking. I would recommend this as historically rich and thought provoking.
One can feel the oppression of aparthied and the emotion of both elements - white as well as black.Soaring emotion, cinematography and world - class actors ( Richard Harris and James Earl Jones )wre definite factors in this purchase
