Planet Earth - The Complete Collection (2007, DVD)

While this was a wonderful production, dont be fooled into thinking it is the one on tv currently. It is supposedly the same production, but with David Attenborough narrating and some segments have been renamed, it has also been reported that the Discovery channel version has been edited for time and content, if you want the new one, wait for the Discovery Channel release sometime in May....The new one is done with Sigourney Weaver, and is updated with Planet Earth the Future as seen on the Discovery Channel.....its worth having both, but make sure this is the one you want! Not sure what other changes there might be or what other differences, the broadcast here was also done in a different order...wickopedia has a great explanation! Hope this helps!

The video and pictures captured in this series is absolutely fabulous! I highly recommend it to anyone.

Is a great video that you may want to watch many times. My only dislike was that the short Diary chapters had better image quality than the main documentary. I think this would probably look better in a Blue Ray version.
I also think that we as consumers are getting spoiled with all the nice advantages in video technology.... years ago there was nothing to complain about DVD image quality - :^)

I'm not much of a documentary fan, but I love watching Planet Earth. The filming was extremely well done. The narration by David Attenborough won't put you to sleep. Some of my favorite parts are about the caves, and the oceans. It should be shown in every classroom 4th grade and up. It definitely puts the right perspective on OUR planet, regenerating respect across generations.

Amazing collection! If you enjoy the outdoors. This is definately for you. Take the time to read the other online reviews. I saw the mini series on the Discovery Channel and said to myself I have to have this. The collection was very affordable. I recommend it to our younger generations as well.

I absolutely love the series. My entire family can sit and enjoy an educationally exciting experience. I'm glad that I have invested in something that my sons can continously enjoy.

The cinematography in this film is physically mesmerizing and with every scene it enthralls you. It is a beautiful masterpiece. Would recommend to anyone. I do however wish that I had an HDTV and a Blue-Ray Player. Blue-Ray would be even better.

This is a tremendous set if you're a nature-phile or even just a fan of incredible cinematography. Beautiful shots all throughout the DVD's- This BBC version has the voice of Richard Attenborough in place of Sigorney Weaver. Not a bad trade by any stretch of the imagination.

Get the HD version if you have the option, but this is no slouch either.

Amazing camera angles that bring you the life of the jungles and deserts. Lights you up from the first time you watch it to the last second of it. Incredible and professional work that can not be missed by anyone. One ofthe best nature documentarys of the century. A must have for every collection.

This is the greatest documentary for animal/nature lovers!
Its got the most amazing shots and views of every aspect of Earth. At times its even hard to believe that the filmmakers were in the right spot at the right time to get some of the footage. I would recommend this set to everybody!! It is truly wonderful!

This seris captures the astonishing events in so many different aspects, very educational. It is simply amazing! This collection brought so many small details to my attention. It brodens your imagination and understanding...it really makes you take into considerations how beautiful the Planet Earth really is. Everything has purpose and puts perspective into your own life, why things happen the way they do and how every little pesky bug, or natural wonder and disaster for that matter plays into your existence as a human being!

I just love this collection. It's worth every minute. This is the best animal documentary. NO wonder why it took them 10 years to make it. I recommend this movie.
