Owned it several times through the years. Zappa was the greatest modern composer of my time. I cried like a baby at the news of his untimely death to Prostate Cancer in 1993. I have since gone to see the Zappa Plays Zappa Tour live in Las Vegas led by son Dweezil + special guest stars from the best Frank Zappa era: Steve Vai, Terry Bosio and Napolean Murphy Brock round out a phenominal group of seasoned performers replicating "Daddy Frank's" best works. This is as good as it gets! Thanks for taking the time and doing it right Dweezil.....Papa Frank is smiling down upon you and his adopted family of musical genious from his zircon encrusted couch.

Pros:
A strong mix of Zappa's humor, great music, and a stirring brass-heavy band

Cons:
The eight best tracks are redundant if you purchase L ther

In 1978/9, Frank Zappa became embroiled in a bitter contract dispute with Warner Brothers, with whom he had signed a contract to deliver four albums for LP-release. Zappa felt he had fulfilled his contract when, in early 1977, he delivering to WB a tape for an intended four-album set to be entitled L ther. WB, however, was dubious about the prospects for a boxed set, which, in those days, was a rarity for popular music. WB insisted that Zappa provide them with four separate albums. Zappa was perturbed but proceeded to chop up the material intended for L ther into four separate albums and...

 Poor Frank

Pros:
The best example of Frank Zappa live during the 1970's.

Cons:
It's pricey.

What an amazing talent. So sad that he's gone. This was Frank Zappa at his best in the 1970's. The band's tight, the recording is perfect. And then there's Frank. The funny stuff is really funny (Punky's Whips, The Illinois Enema Bandit) and the guitar is unmatched (The Black Page, I Promise.) The remastered sound is great--has a real kick to it. Zappa fans probably already have this, but the curious to learn what Frank Zappa was like live could do no better than this album.
