Wolverine MVP (60 GB) Digital Media Player (9060)

Excellent photo photo storage for reasonable price

Pros:
HD, power supply, battery replaceable with off the shelf items. 60 GB. Plays MP3s<BR/>

Cons:
A little bulky. Sound quality is only average. Battery life may be short for some.

My hobby is photography. On trips I often take a laptop, but recently went on a trip where a laptop would be impractical at best. Since I shoot 7-10 gigabytes of RAW file photos on a typical week long trip, I need adequate storage. Additionally I need the ability to upload multiple card types for both cameras we own. I did a lot of research on small portable storage devices. Prices on these things are as high as $500. Even Wolverine makes a model in that price range. I consider an IPod and the Epson P4000/5000. IPods require a bunch of accessories to store photos, and replacement of batteries.

I asked the guys there about it and nobody could tell me about it. So I called my brother to look up some user reviews online and they were all positive. This was enough for me to buy it and take it home. I wasn't planning on opening it until I researched it myself. After finding nothing but positive reviews, I took a chance and opened the package. This...

Pros:
very good battery strength, large storage capacity, plays back images and video to a TV

Cons:
pricey 60GB, red color, use screwdriver to get to battery, HDD is noisy

Recently I took a trip to Africa just to take photos and document some of the amazing people in Kenya. While preparing for the trip I was looking at my large stack of Compact Flash cards for my Nikon D70 and wondering how I was going to keep this precious cargo safe and keep track of all of them. As I looked through some photography forums I came upon the Wolverine MVP 9060. I did some digging and found out that this little device could save my behind. No lugging my PowerBook around with me everywhere (which is quite the endeavor in Africa!), no more trying to keep track of a bunch of small...
