It was compiled to accompany the motion picture, "Who's That Girl", in which she also starred. The movie , which I enjoyed very much, was released in the summer of 1987 - it was a commercial flop. However, the soundtrack was a major success, being certified Gold & Platinum in the U.S on Jul 29, 1987, denoting 1 million shipments & selling in excess of 5 million copies worldwide. If you like the Madonna sound, I recommend both the movie - very funny - and the soundtrack - great tunes! Madonna later performed "Who's That Girl", "Causing a Commotion" and "The Look of Love" on her 1987 Who's That Girl Tour.
