Busta Almost Succeeds In Bringing Disaster
Review created: 04/10/04

Pros:
Somewhat good lyricism, good to great production
Cons:
Commercialism (filler, talk of generic subjects), and some weak guest appearances
Let's all take a trip back to 1997 The golden age of hip-hop has ended to be replaced with the beginnings of the metallic, inorganic styles of commercialism. With the passings of two hip-hop legends not so long ago, it's time for the changing of the guard, led by the crown prince of hip-pop Puff Daddy. (Who's P. Diddy? Farnsworth? What Farnsworth?) Although there were other rap luminaries in this period (i.e. Common and KRS-One), they weren't being appreciated by most of the listeners of this time period. Yet, there was one other who began to rise like a shining star popularized by the funk...

Lightning Strikes Twice with "When Disaster Strikes"
Review created: 03/30/07
by: ardentscriptor -- a member of Epinions
Pros:
Excellent lyricism, lots of good production, some of Bustas best tracks, solid guests
Cons:
Not quite as good as "The Coming", occasional boring beat.
Busta Rhymes had already established himself as the rap games oddest, yet perhaps most entertaining emcee. His style had simply never been heard before. He posessed a very gruff animal like voice, yet he had the personality of a party clown whom everybody loves. After a short stint with his group "Leaders of the New School" in 1989 to 1991, Busta decided to venture of on a solo career. It turned out to be an excellent decision. He burst onto the scene in 1996 with his debut solo album "The Coming". With this album alone, Busta gained a high amount of popularity among both hip hop and...

Busta's Five Percent Of What???
Review created: 12/16/00
by: JBsmooth80 -- a member of Epinions
Pros:
awesome drums
Cons:
some of the talking get's pretty annoying
In the tenth grade Mr. Busta entered a performing contest sponsored by Chuck D and Public Enemy. After putting on one heck of a show he co-founded a group called Leaders of the New School. Spending all the time they could at Public Enemy's studio in Long Island, they worked on their skills and soon landed a contract with Elektra Records. At 17 Busta dropped out of school in order to devote himself to music. Even though they never had great commercial success, the Leaders of the New School had a following in the hip-hop community. The groups two albums, released in 90 and 93, were filled...

Busta keep on busting
Review created: 01/25/00
by: lmoore00 -- a member of Epinions
Pros:
Its busta's style, cool beats
Cons:
Too much darn talking, leaves you skipping tracks alot
Busta makes his second album "when disaster strikes" a pretty good follow album to his previous album which was awesome. He is respected by many for his unique style of rapping very fast yet distinctly. This cd has many tracks (18) that each have their own different beat and style. This album also welcomes many of Busta friends to even make it more of a variety. The obvious single is "put your hands where my eyes can see" This is my favorite cut off this disc because of the smooth beat and lyrics. That one song could get you hooked on Busta's style. I also like "turn it up" which gets me...
