What Women Want (2001, DVD)

Mel Gibson would be wiser to stay away from anything regarding 'what women want' since his real life sexism is blatantly obvious to any savvy observer. I imagine he enjoyed getting to play himself in this flick--a chauvinist who calls women "baby," (I'd say, "that's Dr. Baby to you!"). Director, producer, and writer Nancy Meyer has finally played with Mel Gibson in a role the "heddon" (quoting the L.A. police report article on Courttv.com) belongs in. Using woman-defaming lines like "bitch on wheels," the 'wreckless speeding stud on booze' is exposed for the truth of who he really is both in the movie & in real life.

The only reason I even bother to review it is because Nancy Meyer brilliantly outs Mel Gibson for WHAT he really is: a supremacist. Brava to her excellent work.

I really enjoyed this movie, I love comedies and this did not let me down at all. I like Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt and they play well off each other.

Rented this movie and really liked it. I knew that I would want to see this again and found it for less than what it would cost to rent it. So I made the choice to add it to my collection. Thus I purchased it on ebay and am very happy I did so.

This one is done so well you don't care who the actors are.
I buy all of the movies and my wife reviews them. She watched this one twice and enjoyed it twice. On a scale of 0 to 10 that makes this one a 10. It moves right along with the story line and keeps you interested 100% of the time. It doesn't get better than that. You are not going to walk away to make more popcorn or whatever. There are no white knuckle tense momements,, just temporary confusion which gets promptly explained away. Writing a screen play this good is rarely done. A great idea with a great presentation with a great ending. It tells an impossible story with an unexpected ending.

I like this movie, it is really funny at times. It seems to be directed at 30-40 year olds. But I don't think even 30-40 year olds think Mel Gibson is hot anymore. It makes him look like this stud who is still attractive to women even though he's old and not very nice. It is a good movie though, a lot of funny moments. Helen Hunt is great in it.

This is a fantastic movie, I love it. I wish all men had the ability to hear what we think, then maybe they'd call us and offer to pick up dinner or actually not need a hint to bring us flowers. It's great, love mel shaving.

This movie is definatly a MUST HAVE..... It is funny, sexy, and original. Mel Gigson' performance was one of a kind.

mel and helen are just absolutly great in this movie, mel has the abilities to hear what women are saying about anything(every mans dream) if you like helen hnt and mel gibson this a must have movie

It is a really funny movie! It will def. make you laugh tons! I decided to buy it because I didn't have it on dvd and I wanted it so I did!

IT IS FUNNY , ROMANTIC,HAS GREAT ACTORS AND ACTORESS .YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.WE HAVE WATCHED IT FOUR TIMES. THE KIDS AND THE GRAND KIDS LOVE IT .

This DVD was in great condition when it arrived and I really enjoy it! It was delivered really fast and I thought I got the product for a steal of a price.

Yes, it is another somewhat predictable Romantic-Comedy, BUT>>>I loved it! Seeing Mel Gibson "soft-shoe" around his apartment was in itself worth the purchase, not to mention the pantyhose scene. It's all about the humor and Gibson's charm; one of those characters who is morally challenged, yet you love um anyway. Helen Hunt is a bit dry in her performance, not enough spunk. (Rene Russo would have been an outstanding choice for this one.) I recommend it highly in the "ChickFlick" category.

I bought the DVD because I like the main actors and love the movie. It is a movie that I enjoy watching more than one. I got a good price, too.

AWESOME! I first saw this movie at the theater, and I knew this is one I would want for my personal movie library. I watch it again and again from time to time. Mel Gibson is hilarious in this film. The performances by Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt were both fantastic! I highly recommend this movie!!

A great date movie....we laughed and laughed. A great combination in Mel Gibson & Helen Hunt. Roles are well played. We watch this one often, infact. Enjoy!!

Whats not to like, Mel Gibson is fabulous as well as Helen Hunt, it's a fun loving trip through the "men are from mars...women are from venus" concept.

The reason i bought What Women Want is because my neighbors daughter wanted it. They used to own the dvd, but it was lost and she was upset so i got on ebay, after searching local walmarts, and bought the movie
