As a teacher of statics, dynamics and general physics, I tend to wear out copies of the Beer and Johnston book fairly regularly. I can certify that this edition has exactly the same text as the hardcover edition. The print is a little faded in this paperback version and its binding will probably not survive more than one or two semesters of abuse, but I can buy ten of these for the price of one hardcover edition. This would be an excellent purchase for any young student facing a tight budget. For a teacher or other professional, I would recommend buying one $200 hardcover for in-office use only, and one of these paperbacks each semester as an expendable copy to carry around. If I were a student, I would buy one of these each semester to carry to class and wear out, but would also want a hardcover edition for reference after graduation.

Beer and Johnston has always been the most authoritative text for Statics and Dynamics since I first took these courses in 1975. This is the one to get.

This solution cd is wonderful. It helped me a lot and I recommend you to buy it as well. The solutions were very easy to follow and you can't find these kind of things anywhere. It's a sweet deal and I'm looking forward to using it everyday.

I really liked this product. One of advantages that I found out for myself was that it was totally in SI units not in British engineering units, which I personally dislike. One more good thing to point out is that an international version is more compact in size in comparison to the US version. This is a real advantage when you carry this textbook every day in your backpack.
