I've got a host of Clapton CD's, including classics, but this one beats them all. I say so because of how Clapton turned "Layla" into a slow blues song, ingeniously showing his maturity as a musician who can critique and revise his own key hits from years back. I can hardly listen to "Tears in Heaven," knowing it means the sudden death of his pre-school son who fell out of an up stairs window. "Before You Accuse me," (better look at yourself) is also one of my favorites. The rest are worth every second of your listening time and mine:
Track listing 1. Signe 2. Before You Accuse Me 3. Hey Hey 4. Tears In Heaven 5. Lonely Stranger 6. Nobody Knows You 7. Layla 8. Running On Faith 9. Walking Blues 10. Alberta 11. San Francisco Bay Blues 12. Malted Milk 13. Old Love 14. Rollin' And Tumblin'
The CD in 61 minutes long, and of course, the middle-age Eric Clapton plays guitar and sings, like only he can.
All of these folks joined Unplugged to make for a dandy 1993 triple Grammy winning Album of the Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and Best Male Rock Vocal Performance: Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar); Chuck Leavell (keyboards); Nathan East (bass); Steve Ferrone (drums); Ray Cooper (percussion); Katy Kissoon, Tessa Niles (background vocals).
You want some matured and seasoned Clapton to listen to? Get this one.
Eric Clapton, older, wiser, mellower, clean and sober, is as good as the Slowhand we knew when he was playing "White Room", "Badge" or "Presence of the Lord" and leading Cream, Blind Faith or even Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. This CD shows the artist maybe not at the top of his game, but certainly at the tope of the acustic Clapton.
Tears in Heave is a heartbreaker; loss and sorrow for a father.
Before You Accuse Me, driving and bluesy;
Layla, even the acoustic version, remains the quintessential rock song ... bearly edging out "Tough Me" by the Doors.
Alberta is just downright fun.
And San Francsico Bay Blues makes you want to move there.
Clapton, more than any other musician of the modern era, can do it all and do it convincinly. He is a generous performer, giving listeners what they want and how they want it.
Clapton's Unplugged is a portrait of an artist in the full.
Eric clapton is the quintessential guaritar player. He has backed up many greats and made many favorites himself, playing and singing. Layla, cocaine and many of his hits are included. wonderful!
Clean and pure as anything you will ever listen to. Clapton truely shows his brilliance on the acoustic guitar. He is not simply a loud electric rocker, but a sensational virtuoso musician and vocalist. A true artist!
I had been planning that purchase since 1999. It tokk long because I waited to complete a good listening stuff in my room. When I finally completed my audiophile search it was obvious to obtain Clapton MTV live. I've always known that this is a great piece of music, but when I heard it in high quality I've fallen in love. For those who ever tried to play a guitar, who love sounds of guitar strings and for those who like good-tempered, warm music it is a must-have position. Technically it is also very well prepared - you can surely listen to it on hi-end.
This unplugged C.D. was made live shortly after the death of his young son fell to his death from a 8 story window. A house servant had left the window open. While his son was playing and running, he would stop his self by putting his hands up to stop his advance. This album catches Eric's deep feelings throughout the entire recording. Especially, on "Tears from Heaven".
People who've enjoyed the many works of Eric Clapton over the years, are sure to love the the unplugged version of his timely hits. Also there is a mix of modern day music as well. Tears in heaven, a song about a difficult time in Clapton's life will surely touch your heart. I give this work of art 5 stars.
This is a very good album. The music is great. Some of the best guitar picking anywhere. But the voice is whats emphasized and the guitar picking is almost secondary. Eric Clapton is probably one of the best guitarists anywhere anytime. The blues on the album are phenomenal.
When I realized my old Eric Clapton Unplugged CD had a hopeless skip, without blinking an eye, I went right to Ebay, found another with 17 minutes to go, bid and got it for under $5 with shipping, and it arrived in four days, in pristine condition. This is one of those CDs that sold in mass in the 90s, because it was really great, and so it is now cheap to buy on Ebay... it is a real gem. It is a must for my music collection. Secondly, on a live CD, one really knows how masterful the artist is. Clapton's guitar work is sensational. The music is a wonderful collection of old blues tunes, plus some of his own stuff. I have not found anything else by Clapton that I really like, but I adore this album. I have also bought it for friends.
I bought the c.d. because I lost the one I had, it is a great album by a very talented artist. I decided to buy it because I won the bid. I would buy something from this seller again. I have made 4 purchases on Ebay since Dec. 2006, this is the only (and cheapest) item I have won that came in a timely manner, and was worth buying. I am sorry about the other 3 purchases I made, very sorry.
I like dealing with them the cd is great there were not faws it sounds great the service with fast If I had to buy someting from them I would and I will tell my friends the same thing.
I enjoy this CD. It was in excellent condition and came at a great price. The delivery was very fast. I bought the cd because it had "tears in heaven" on it.(one of my favorite songs)

Pros: Some unique acoustic music. Clapton at his best!
Cons: If you don t like the blues it may sound, in part, repetitive.
Let me introduce you an album I ve always appreciated since I bought it and that I m still not tired of listening to: I m referring to the live concert held by Eric Clapton for the cameras and microphones of MTV in 1992. About the author: It s nowadays superfluos to talk about a guy who has almost lived in a sort of symbiosis with his guitar, but it could be useful to remember that Clapton began moving his first steps into the world of pop

Pros: Some great stuff.
Cons: Some very samey stuff also.
Eric Clapton really shouldn t need any introduction from the likes of me. Starting off as guitarist in The Yarbirds before forming one of the first super groups Cream before moving onto form Derek and the Dominoes where he wrote what is possibly his most famous song, Layla (That s the widdly one used in the Vauxhall TV adverts ooh, however long ago it was trust me, you know this song), before finally moving onto a solo career. This MTV Unplugged album sees Clapton stay very true to the blues, rarely stepping outside straightforward blues. The album opens with the beautiful instrumental Signe .

Pros: good changes of his old songs
Cons: slowness gets a little tedious
Eric Clapton, one of the 20th centurie's most popular guitarists decided to take on the unplugged task. From his early years as the Cream's guitarist, he decided to take a twist in his work. He decided he would start playing the blues. As a British man, that is probably a pretty challenging task to take. For Americans, the Blues is kind of a type of music we are all familiar to. English people dont get exposed to it like us. It was definitely a very creative thing to do, and it turned out great! Now, on the topic, "Unplugged" is an album full of all his Cream hits and his later year hits. But.
