For any pink floyd fan this is the best ablum, pre-dark side of the moon. To me this is the best of the floyd boys bar none. For those new listeners give this a go you will not be disappointed. I have seen Pink Floyd several times including once with sid barret, and this is for me the best of the band. Again new listeners give this and the older albums a try you will not be let down
As much as I think that Roger Waters is an egotistical liberal idiot, I must admit, he steals the show on this album. Grantchester Meadows Ranks as one of my favorite Floyd tunes. Several Species...is really one of the most unique recordings of all time of all genres and all forms of Art. Now I'm clean and sober for 12 years and I still listen to Pink Floyd. I think why? I don't get high or even drink. Art is Art. The Floyd worked hard on their craft as proved by their continued success, even though the haven't released any new Floyd in 14 years. The live stuff on disc one is quite good as well, but, to me if you want to get the full effect you need the Live at Pompei Video. I'm waiting to receive the Director's cut DVD. One final note, If you live the Dark Side of the Moon you need to hear the roots of that album. Most of the Brit's copied the Beatles in some way and then moved on to a more original style. The Floyd go to the Fab Four's medicine chest and add blues and blues and blues and blues and blues.......
Ummagumma is Pink Floyd's wonderful barely accessible 2 CD set (Disk 2 is a collection of live songs) guaranteed to drive your friends insane. As a collector of strange and unusual recordings I hold Ummagumma in high esteem and recommend it to anyone who loves the more avant garde side of Floyd. 5 Stars.
This album is a favorite of hard-core Pink Floyd fans and not one to be left out of your collection, I am not going to lie to you but you really have to be a hard core fan of Syd Barrett and understand his love of the total package that was named after Pink Anderson and Floyd Council! Love you all, Atomheartretta!
