Ultimate Avengers 2: Rise of the Panther (2006, DVD)

This One Wasn't Too Bad.... considering I wasn't floored by the first movie in this series.

Must have been the addition of the Black Panther that made this DVD more watchable!

A good character and finally getting some airplay!

This DVD is good for a rental.

Every review I had read about this feature was negative but I've always liked the Avengers and wanted to see what modern technology could do with them. This was surprisingly polished animation and character development. As for storyline, it was just designed for action. If you accept that about the Avengers then you will never be disappointed.

I did not realize until afterwards that there is an Ultimate marvel universe which makes these characters slightly different than expected. I was thrown off by an afro american Nick Fury with no cigar and lack of bad attitude. Weirder, he looks and sounded like he could even have been the same guy as the black green lantern from the JLA series.

I wonder how much time it takes to create these 60-90 minute animated deals. I can see this being a better frontier for the super hero genre than the live action CGI flicks.

Bottm line for Ultimate Avengers 2 is it is good entertainment for all ages.

A Marvel Comics fan from way back , means I am enthused about all things Marvel, and even more because The Avengers was one of my all time favorite titles ! This story line opens up yet another chapter of the Universe Marvel produced for the Avengers . The Black Panther was never a favorite character of mine , but this movie brings more of his talents to the limelight . I am impressed with the movies Marvel has produced for the fans, and hope to see even more in the future ! I bought this movie, because I am an Avengers fan , and no Marvel fan should let this story pass them by !

I'm not a big fan of the Ultimate Avenger movies so far. The animation just irks me for some reason, and the plot of this one was sub-par at best. The only saving grace is seeing the War Machine armor. Honestly, when you watch Black Panther go from his native garb to costume within a two second angle change, your hopes for the movie kind of melt away.

Let me start off by saying, much as I did when I reviewed the first film, that this centers around the ULTIMATE characters. These characters were introduced within the past several years by Marvel as a way of reinventing the characters and their comics. Some characters are different in many ways, mainly in their looks. I'm not quite sure why some people have issues with this; it's really nothing that should turn you off from the films. This movie has great animation and a great story that follows up from the original. This time around, we get introduced to another of Marvel's characters, The Black Panther. Much like the first film, Ultimate Avengers 2 starts off feeling like it's a story centered more around Captain America than the actual super-hero team of the Avengers. Just as soon as we feel we are doomed for a carbon copy of the original, we find ourselves more immersed in the story of the Black Panther - yet, it is complimented by the presence of the Avengers. This film has more action, more drama, more fight sequences and a surprising loss (which I won't give away). The only downside I see to this film is that the Hulk is hardly featured. This time around, we are dealing with an imprisoned Bruce Banner for much of the film. So, if you're looking for this film to have more great fight sequences with the Hulk bashing baddies or dueling with his own team, you're outta luck. I think that's the only downside to this movie really...we see the Hulk on the cover, we are told he's in the movie, but he has literally 10 or so seconds of screen time. In a way, it's disappointing...but not enough to rule this movie as poor. It's still a great film for Marvel fans old, young, new or old.
