the reason I bought this item is that I love sci fi second I found the characters different from the usual, also I'am a little disappointed that they have let go of the characters that were in place, but maby they know something about this change that will make the series better.

torchwood is an excellent spinoff of dr who...great writing and nail biting plots..john barrowman and cast are great...i recommend these dvds to any sci fi lover..cant wait for season two!!

From the moment you see their black Land Rover zoom up to the site of an alien appearance in Cardiff, Wales, you know the team from Torchwood means business. Imagine a much smarter ghostbusters, produced by the BBC, with a sexy and witty cast, zipping around town catching 'weevils' -what the call aliens- who fall through the space/time shift in Cardiff. It's a lot of fun to watch with a great cast equally good writing.

started watching the show on HDNET on directv. Only problem I wasn't catching the show in order they were aired on BBC. Once I watched them in order the show made more sense and enjoyed it more and liked the characters more.

This is a great series for anyone who enjoys paranormal tv shows. Sort of an X Files meets Twin Peaks type series. Full of surprises and characters that you will really care about.

If you like scooby doo, x-files, the monster of week, earthbound stories, open minded sexuality and soap opera like drama(who's sleeping with who) then I would recommend Torchwood to you. This show is intended for adult audience compare to its family hearted, time traveling sister show Doctor Who. Most current series Doctor Who fans are turned off by this show however it is to be taken for face value, enjoyable, fun, darkier, sexier entertainment. I see this show as a earthbased Star Trek, Captain Jack as Kirk, Ianto as a Riker, Toshiko as Spock, Owen as Bones and of course Gwen. I have yet to appreciate the chemistry of the group, there is "everyone for themselves" philopshy. Torchwood is more like a disfunctional family than a team. This concept is perhaps intended for the show but its really a handicap for the viewer. Unfortunately you care about the stories and who is Captain Jack but not the rest of the team.
Torchwood series 2 which is currently airing is seeming to fill in those empty voids as a viewer which means better series and improving show. The future looks bright for Torchwood.

torchwood first season. successful spinoff from the current dr who series. this series is exciting, the stories are well written and deal more with the humanside of the team, as they cope with aliens and their private life. if you enjoy the new dr who series on the sci-fi station, you'll also enjoy torchwood. i'm looking forward to season two.

I saw the previews for it and it looked interesting so, I decided to buy it. I have found that it is a good show with good acting and a good cast.

This is a must for all Dr Who Fans. Not quite as fast paced as the Great Doctor but it has British Wit and fine acting.

I fell in love with this series & am so glad to own the set!!! I've even purchased Doctor Who in order to see Captain Jack's beginnings!!!

I bought this thinking it would be similar to the Dr. Who series. I was wrong !
This is more like a "soft porn soap opera" than a science fiction series. Each episode is about 1/4 science fiction and 3/4 Soap Opera. It's NOT for children under 18, definitely an Adult series. Don't buy it if you're expecting good sci-fi monsters and content. I don't think I'll be buying anymore of these unless they change the content.

This is an excellent Bristish telelvision show. I brought it for John Barrowman who plays Captain Jack Harkness and for Gareth David-Lloyd who plays Ianto Jones. This collection of dvd is the best!

This series is perfect. you can't ask for any better quality in the picture or sound. Now, I can go back and see episodes I have missed and feel like I'm watching it as it was new....
