In December 2005 I received a Magellan 300 for Christmas. I plugged it in as advertised, and nothing happened. It has to be programmed with the maps with a computer to be useful at home. I took it back and bought a TOMTOM 700 because it had such high user ratings. I plugged it in and it worked right out of the box. It even has a battery so it can be programmed on your kitchen table before you start out on your trip. The Magellan does not have this feature. The TOMTOM also has a superior 3-D monitor and you can actually read the street sign on the TOMTOM before you approach the street intersection itself! Great feature.
Voice is pleasant(it is changable if you do not like the Australian gentleman), and tells you to turn several hundred yards before you actually turn, then tells you again at the actual turn.
i luv the TOMTOM and would definitley buy this product again.

Best bang for your buck, Most user friendly Nav System, even if you compare it to Factory so called Nav System (which normally sucks, great for AV but real hectic for navigation).
Comes with multi voices (downloadable) multi lingual, Pretty accurate GPS, all time 3D display (most competitor don't), 3,5" Touch screen TFT (works great even in bright daylight) which you can adjust the brighnest level, integrated antenna which works great so you won't have that ugly looking antenna sticking from your GPS unit (compare to some competitor), don't forget, this baby comes with bluetooth capability... Connect it with a bluetooth ready cell phone or PDA, you can received a phone call thru it, and also you can see what kind of traffic ahead of you or even better avoid 'em if you activate TomTom traffic thru your bluetooth handset...
If you're too lazy to touch your screen or afraid to scratch it, get a remote controller (cool), if area where you live you're sorrounded by concrete jungle like Manhattan, get the external antenna (which most of the time you don't really need it, 1 bar is enough), you can also customized the case or just the faceplate into colors or even metal hardcase...
Overall, it's the best stuff on the Market... I have 1 and I"M LOVIN' IT....

Really nicePros: Very readable screen, easily understood verbal driving directions, many POI's (even in rural S.E. Idaho), easy to enter your destination. It was 'Refurbished', but it arrived in excellent condition without a blemish anywhere.
Cons: Poor in instructions as far as updating through my computer. Had to more or less teach myself on working with the TomTom and the computer.
For $210 + Shipping, I'd buy it again. Really nifty.

The reconditioned Tomtom is fine. I think potential buyers should have been informed that a reconditioned Tomtom may not be equipped with updated maps.

This is my second TomTom,The first,purchased in 2005 for over $1,000.00 burned out after 15 months and the Company would not repair it or even look at it.The second TomTom is the 700. This TomTom shuts itself "Off" just when you need it most.I hooked it up to my cell phone using Bluetooth and every time the phone rings,The TomTom shut off again.Most time it takes a reset to get the TomTom back up and running wich means pulling off the road and stopping to reset it.The TomTom Co.tells me to keep downloading updates, but nothing has worked.I also see thousands of TomToms for sale on EBay as refurbished!I would NOT recomend this product to anyone.My next GPS will be another brand.

As a man who will not ask for directions, and compounded by the fact I am directionally challenged I made the decision to pick up a TOMTOM 700 here on here eaby for 250.00 (slightly used). The new updated maps are out for the entire USA and Canada and are quite accurate. The POI's (points of interest) now include the location of every Dunkin Donuts in the US. That's my kind of GPS.
The receiver has led me a stray twice thousands of miles of use. Once I ended up in a cememtary, the other time an abandon back road. Other than that it is idiot proof. Easy to type in the address you looking for, quick to find a new route. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I like it a lot. One thing to keep in mind do the english voice (uk is for people that drive on the wrong side of the road and makes the voice promts sometimes confusing. Other than that excelent product use it all the time

This unit is ideal for transfer from vehicle to vehicle. Does what most units do, and has proven reliable. Does more than the expensive built in in our luxury car, and the storage is a lot greater. Not low end or high end, but worth the money.

Works good, very easy to use. Came with maps that were ready to upgrade.
Did the upgrade just for kicks. I think that I would have been just as good without the new map upgrade. Would recomend this unit to anyone who goes on vacation and does not want to be lost. The phone feature is great. I use it more than the GPS. I can call and make resurvations at any resturant in any city without having a phone book in the car.

I like this GPS, Tom Tom 700, a lot. It looks cool and small. Also, it is very easy to use. Speakers are pretty loud, which is good, especially driving on a highway. It takes long to receive GPS sigal if left turned-off overnight. But, once it's turned-on, then it has no problem receiving signal, even if you turn it off and then turn it back on. Sometimes, it loses sigal in clear place, but it's very rare. When you're in city, downtown area, it cannot receive signal because of the skyscrapers around you. Anyway, I'm very satisfied with this product.

For the most part, have been very satisfied. A few disappointing purchases in many items bought, where the seller is not completely forthright about the condition of the item. (example-Last purchase was a Tom Tom GPS which is an excellent and simple GPS to operate. But the seller failed to say that there are dead pixels. Will use E-bay again for purchases because generally very satisfied. Another item was a desktop computer I purchase and ended uo with a counterfited copy of microsoft software. Bill Gates is mad at me.

I never received the item because the seller never sent it. Paypal recovered most of the money but NOT all of it. I can't tell what the product was like so all I can do is say what a bad experience this has been for me and complain about Paypal and how they need to improve, thanks.
