Tomtom GO 910 GPS Receiver

Four three weeks I have been trying to get support to address my problem of the touchscreen being out of alignment. They tell me they will have to have a higher level of support call me back but they never do. I even went to the extreme of calling the Netherlands about the problem and got exactly the same run around.

It appears that if you need support from TomTom you might as well forget it.

I got my Tomtom 910 in aprox. november last year ...It should have maps of Europe .We went to Europe this summer and we were ready to try it . Never hapened !!!! It turn on and of all the time ,we could not make any planing from point A to point B ...simply GPS was always stuck !!!It did show where we were , but we could not put in our destination point ,simply GPS was not able to take it !!!And after 2 days trying ,GPS TOmtom 910 SIMPLY STOP WORKING AND I can NOT TURN IT ON !!! We are back from Europe and my GPS is in storige and I do not now what is wrong and why ?!?!? There is green light-power light on left top corner ,but switch on top is NOT REACTING !!!!
Money badly spent and NEVER WILL BY TOMTOM AGAIN !!!!

Very easy to use. Picks up position very quickly. Functions and preferences are abundant. Maps are super accurate. 20GB of storage! Ease of use 10/10.

It seems to be pretty accurate thus far.
The connection between the unit itself and the mounting bracket loosens up pretty quickly I've noticed. It didn't take long for it to start to sag downward when mounted on the windshield. That's the only issue so far.

I love the the functions on this. Its My first GPS and extemely usefull the maps are very good and directions accurate I travel all over NJ Next time I'll get a bigger screen & the mounting on this unit sags constantly very annoying !!! There is supposed to be a free recall but good luck finding it on there web site I have had to do a reset several times & finding the reset button is an adventure in & of itself. I cant get my MP3 library to play thru the fm transmitter no matter what I try. The tom tom web site is confusing at best and the instructions on set up are not clear at all But Having said that i love the unit it is very helpful and has a host of features i didnt even know about I use it constanly especialy the blue tooth feature for my phone which works better then i thought it would with the extra microphone which is a must unless your parked, although my motorolla phone shuts on and off quite a bit. Seems you have to do a lot of paging to go thru the menu screens but overall for the price im happy next time ill do more research at the stores before I buy Thinking about taking out warranty somehow ithink it will die on me for some reason tends to shut off on its own a lot or not start right away

I bought this GPS system for the price, 1 year warranty, and features, as well as all the little extras like the remote control, that was included.
What I now find that I am SURE TomTom has not made any better with their latest addition to their current lineup, are the lack of personal support to this particular model, no answers to any of my questions, the addition of POI's that are available on the internet are NOT compatible with TomTom products, I cannot update my map without spending $99 on their website, and being an over the road truck driver I use this as a professional navigational tool, and I am currently disappointed.
The simple insertion of navigational points along a route is mediocre and almost slow or even confusing, the simple taking all those points along that route is almost ignored by the slow to react processor, as well as trying to get it to reconfigure a route without completely going overboard.
I tried to plan a simple 10 mile route near my home to a place I frequent with my family, and then see where it takes me, it took one of the two routes I would take on any given day, then I tried the feature to find an alternate route, and it kept getting some of the wildest directions, all the time with the same "fastest route" selection.
I am currently using the Tomom GO 910 right alongside my laptop and comparing it with Microsoft Streets & Trips 2008, and the 910 disappoints me quite often, especially since I cannot see forking nearly a third of what I paid to update the map it contains so it will quit trying to recalculate based upon old and bad information.
I am considering selling mine, even after finding it MUCH easier to enter information using one of my oldest sons' Gameboy DS stylus pens, buying a well thought out velcro attached sun shield that I found on Ebay, and comparing to what I use every day, I feel I made a good investment for what I paid, but on a product not geared toward simplicity and ease of use, and definitely not geared toward a professional driver who would use it every day.

My main reason for buying the TomTom 910 was that it includes both North American and European maps preloaded. It was also cheaper than the current TomTom 920, which also includes the maps. A side benefit was its 20GB hard disk, which lets one load music and photo files. As a GPS, the unit performs extremely well. On local trips, I sometimes disagree with its route selection, but it recalculates very quickly in response to my shortcuts. The computer-generated voice announcements are remarkably clear, although there are some glitches here and there. So there's lots of good news. Now the bad news: The unit is quite heavy, and the windshield mount supplied is completely useless. I have attached the unit to a home-made dashboard mount. If you must have a windshield-mounted GPS, do not buy a 910. The North American maps are a couple of years out of date, and there seems to be no way of updating them without buying an expensive new set. The later 920 unit has a better updating facility, I understand. The POI database is rather limited, and many seemingly obvious features are lacking. One can update this manually or by downloading some sets of POIs through the TomTom HOME software, but the POI database is still a weakness. In all, I think that the TomTom 920 would have been a better choice for my needs.

The 910 has all of the bells and whistles; it was as advertised, plug and play. Initialization took a very short period of time and the installed maps were quite current. The enclosed software CD offered many options such as points of interest, displays, voice and language options. Real time traffic information is available, however, it requires a cellphone connection to the Internet, which could become costly. The unit is very easy to operate and the hand held remote is a major plus. The 910 has Bluetooth capability and set up to my mobile phone was a breeze, a remote mike comes with the unit so as to make communication much clearer. There are two negative which are worth mentioning: 1) The windshield mount does not hold the 910 rigidly, any slight bump in the pavement allows the unit to drop and requires you to readjust. There is no mention in the owner's manual as to how to tighten the connection between the windshield mount and the 910 mounting station. Please note that the windshield mount does a yeoman's job of attaching and de-attaching from the glass, the issue is with the ball and socket interface between the mount and GPS saddle. 2) The second issue is the size of the display, it is 4", newer units employ a 4.3" display. However, with that being said, it an excellent bang for the buck. The 910 has been replaced with a model 930.

I love that I don't have to buy map upgrades like I do for my Garmin. This unit is a all in one; you have a GPS, MP3 Player,Photo Gallery and more. I forgot to mention the main reason for the purchase was the preloaded software (Europe). This is without a doubt one of the best buys i've ever made off of Ebay........Get One

Everything about the Tomtom reciever is wonderfull; except, I was a wee bit upset that it had an outdated mapping system. Other than that, I suppose shy of $99.00 and some tax for the updated maps, everything would be great.

I have spent my life getting lost or getting anxious about getting lost. I have the special talent of not being able to find my way to places I've been going for years. I finally broke down and bought myself a GPS system. I chose the Tomtom because of recommendations from family, friends and also after some online googling.

I love this product. The maps are very accurate, the directions are clear and when I (still) manage to make a wrong turn despite the Tomtom's best efforts, it recalculates my route immediately and has me going in the right direction within seconds. The screen is a good size and the graphics are in general quite good.

I chose this particular model because I also like the feature that allows me to store music and audio books on the unit itself. Then, when I'm listening and the device needs to give directions, it will pause the audio and restart where it left off. This is especially nice for the audio books - I don't have to miss a word.

It also takes input from my iPod (it won't pause playback here) and that's also nice.

The visual and audio cues are great for me although some people may find them a little too intrusive. For example, when traveling on a highway, it will announce that you need to "keep left" (basically *not* exit) at most exits. I personally prefer that than too little prompting.

One slight negative is that I sometimes have problems seeing the screen in bright daylight when I'm wearing sunglasses. This hasn't been a huge problem for me and I think this is always going to be a problem with LCD screens so I don't think it's a specific problem with this brand or model.

I also had a problem with my unit not broadcasting correctly to my FM radio. I called the Tomtom customer support and they were extremely helpful and pleasant. I received a replacement part in less than one week. A big "thumbs up" for the support team at Tomtom.

I can heartily recommend this product. It comes with all the extras included (all manner of cords and adapters). An excellent product.

I love the TomTom 910 GPS, especially the ability to answer and call out on my cell phone hands free. It's user friendly and easy to use right out of the box. The voice instructions are precise and you can have the instructions repeated back to you if you didn't understand them the first time around. It has one minor glitch and it's the fact that once you reach your destination you'll have to reset it or enter another destination or it will repeatedly try to route you back to the original destination once you leave there. Other than that, this is a great unit and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I have a factory GPS in my Deville with the latest software and I have to say other than liking my large screen better it can't light a candle to my Tomtom.
Along with the North American maps I have Europe, Bluetooth links my phone to it, I have a 12 meg MP3 player that plugs in to my car stereo to give me a seamless presentation that mutes my stereo when the directions are given or the phone rings. To make it sweeter when I look up a destination in the favorites it even gives the phone # and will dial it thru my phone. All in all I would recomend this unit

The product's size is perfect for carrying in a pocket and the battery has a pretty good lifespan of roughly 4 hours. . Other phones I've owned have simpler menus and get you to important features easily. Overall, I'd recommend the phone if you're on a budget.

The best thing about this is that it had a remote control. Ever try punching in your coordinates at 70 mph? Its a scary thought, but with the remote its simple and easy to navigate. The controls and functions are easy. Built in phone numbers of businesses is very convenient.

This item was received from the same company that sold me my new camera - IT was factory refurbished and appears and works like new. The good news is the price and it comes with the same (Tom Tom) factory warranty as a new one!
Excellent navigation features with auto re-routing and very intuitive as a easy to learn to operate unit. Outstanding features and price!

This Tomtom 910 GPS the best toy I've bought myself, I have been finding new things it can do every time I turn it on !Just one thing, You need to get all the accessories, I think TomTom is a very good brand of GPS's your money can buy.

I bid on the GO 910 and was told I was the high bidder. Shortly thereafter, I was told that they were having problems with this model and would replace it with a 510. Even though they took off $90 I felt that I should have received the 910 which is a better GPS. I suspect that my high bid was too low for that GPS and that they didn't want to honor this price.

My son reports that he loves his new Tomtom GO 910. We received it quickly and are enjoying it very much. THANKS

Product has a newer model that is coming out but the features on this unit are impossible to find at this price point. Reliability is high and the functions and features are too many to list. The hard disk, ability to manage map data via a pc and the periodic updates that can be downloaded all make this unit an excellent buy. If you compare the actual features function by function, this unit should be in your final choice list. Can't go wrong with the 910!

The 910 is ready to be used right out of the box. It is very accurate and comes with the latest maps. The device is very easy to use and has several great features. My favorite are the text-to-speech and bluetooth. The 910 is very easy to use and only takes a few minutes to become familiar with the interface. I would suggest this SatNav for someone looking for a higher end GPS.

Have you ever been lost? Totally turned around? No idea where home is? Then you need a Tomtom!

My wife is "directionally challenged". Back her out of the driveway and her next words are, "Which way?"

We visited a friend in Italy a few months ago, and she had just purchased a Tomtom to help her find her way around (she's "directionally challenged" too), but she wanted me to show her how to use it.

What a device! It had all of the streets and roads down pat wherever we went! I was sold the first night while we were driving to our hotel the first time. We had never been in St. John, Austria, and this device noted an incorrect turn made by the driver within 50 ft! "Please turn around immediately!" was the verbal message. We turned around and were instructed to "turn left", which we did, and then we were informed, "You have arrived at your destination!" WOW! What a device!

When we returned to the states I logged on to eBay and started bidding. I Bought one at a good price, wrapped it, and gave it to my wife for Christmas! She travels in the car teaching seminars here and there, and always somewhere she has never been! She is no longer fearful of getting lost! That loss of fear is worth every penny I paid, and all the free directions, gas stations, restaurants it finds are just bonuses!

Great product works awsome. I really like it. Takes me to all the loctation I want when I enter the address. Easy to use. Never had any problems.
