This book, like so many of Mercedes Lackey's books, is a trip for the imagination. Mercedes Lackey's ability to place you in book itself, is uncanny. She also has this knack for making her characters so relatable, that when tragedy or triumph strikes, you feel like it happened to you too!
Her characters Idalia and Kellen are just like you and I. Kellen is heading down a path that was set before him some hundred years ago, a path which he doesn't wish to take. He finds out that he isn't the only family member to feel this way. However, his decisions ultimately lead to his being exiled from the only land and home he has ever known.
But fear not! Fate is on his side....
There is such a great cast of characters in this series. If you can't find one of them to relate to, I'm pretty sure you are a rock.
i really enjoyed the sequal, it was good, and a very good read, i recommened this to any one who enjoyed the first. the story is easy to follow, and after awhile you feel like your actually in the book, because of the detailed realism. but yes a must read if you enjoyed the outstretched shadow
A wonderful fantasy story. I purchased this book to complete my set. I could not find it in the store, but there is was on Ebay. Hurray!! Way to go Mercedes!
The storyline picks up splendidly in this second book of the Obsidian Trilogy. I was a bit disheartened by all the slow points (You know, the places where you usually put the book down for the night?), but they all add up in the end. The end of this one definately makes you want more, and I can't wait to get my hands on the last book!
