First off let me state, I am a Celtic music fan. I like the Chieftains but I have no Cheiftains' CDs in my collection. I was going through the bargain bin on half.com and saw this CD. It has turned out to be, one of my best pick ups ever. I have had the CD for about two months and cannot take it out. It goes from car to work, back into car everyday.
There are no bad cuts, only ones I like more than others. My top three are: The Magdalene Laundries with Joni Mitchell - depressing movie but thought provoking lyrics Redemption Song - Ziggy Marley - last cut on CD, outstanding version, you just can wait till the CD starts again Cotton-Eyed Joe with Ricky Skaggs - no way you can stay still listening to this cut, you can tell that they had a blast recording it.
A telling compliment to this CD is that there are songs/cuts you love, and you don't fast-forward/skip to them, because all the cuts are excellent.
I am not a snooty music critic, just a guy that likes good music, and this in my opinion, is an outstanding CD. Hope you will give it a listen and enjoy it like I have.
If you are a Chieftains fan... this CD is for you. You will LOVE it! Here is a list of the contributing srtists that sing with them on this CD: Diana Krall, Elvis Costello, Joni Mitchell, Los Lobos, Ricky Skaggs, Sinead O'Connor, Sting, The Coors, The Rolling Stones. I play this CD all the time and never get tired of it.
