I disliked this product and issued a "poor" rating because of several reasons: first, there are 800+ pages to read, the book spends more time being CRITICAL than it does telling you how to enjoy the Disney parks. (They do claim it's the only "critical" guide to Disney on the market and they do live up to the promise) The charts and the ratings are hard to follow (there are so many), and their rating system is strange. In addition, the comments from readers are mostly negative and the things that their critics couldn't manage to get done I did on my own (with ease) during my recent visit. I would recommend the "Passporter's Guide to Walt Disney World" as an alternative. In comparison it was smaller, very easy to follow and allowed readers to develop their own opinions instead of having the opinions pre-formed by the book. I have also disagreed strongly with most everything I read in the "Unofficial Guide..." and would not recommend this book. Your family should have fun at Disney and not be looking or waiting for disaster or disappointment to strike. Only PLUS feature: They are thoroughly critical.
I have read all the other Disney Guide and this one tops it all... it has all the info you need in one book, this book is great for experienced Disney travelers as well i always learn something new!!!!!
I'm in love with this book. It is so jam packed full of information, I haven't even been able to read the whole thing yet! I was able to do all my dining plans with this book. It even includes room diagrams of the villas and suites on Disney property. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to plan a trip to WDW, whether you're a first-timer or be it your 20th trip! The one unattractive thing about this book may be the lack of photos-- if you really like photos, then I suggest you purchase 2 books: this book and Birbaum's Official Guide to WDW. The latter contains beautiful, glossy photos with information about all the parks, resorts, and dining. While it is a fabulous book, The Unofficial Guide to WDW surpasses Birnbaum's in terms of information and other content. I own both, and it is very beneficial!
I just went on a Disney Vacation last summer and am now planning a future trip for our family.I had The Unofficial Guide for 2006 before the last trip and it saved us so much time and money!I bought this years copy to read and get updated on any new Disney resorts, restaurants, and attractions.Disney changes constantly and these people from The Unofficial Guide really stay on top of things.I love this book because they review every hotel room at disney giving you detailed descriptions including a map of the room lay out. They even tell you which room numbers have the best views. Some of the hotels outside of Disney in the Orlando area are also reviewed. This book is also a great help for planning your food budget. They describe every Disney restaurant wether it is fast food or sit down, including menu items, price and readers opinions. And then there are the Disney parks themselves.Every ride is in here giving what ages like it best, height requirements, fright factors and a short description of it.This really helps if you only have a few days and don't want to waste time on things that won't interest your family - especially young children who may be frightened on some rides or just not understand the point of it because they are to young. To sum it up I can't imagine planning a trip to Walt Disney World with out this book!
We read a review in our local paper on Disney World and it recommended to buy this book to save you time and money when there. What a great book! It takes a while to get through it. Lots of information. I love how they put other readers comments and suggestions in most sections of the book.
This book seems to cover about anything you would need or want to know about Disney World -- parks, attractions, touring plans, timesavers, etc. They also throw in some humor, so it's not a dry read. Being un-related to Disney, I feel that the book has good subjective opinions, and shoots straight as far as discussing what not to miss, what to avoid, and why.
