After losing my dad to multiple myeloma(cancer)at the way too young age of 60 and pretty much determining that it was caused by chemical exposure, I have taken an active approach in eliminating chemicals from what I eat, drink, clean with, and put on my skin. A friend recommended this book to me so I immediately purchased it on ebay. This book covers all these topics in an easy read--and in separate sections (easy to go back and look up). Personally, I was familiar with most of the food additives and supplements that were discussed but found the makeup and skin care coverage to be 90% new material to me. The best tip that I found (and cheap) was to wash your face with organic baby wipes! Wow--no chlorine, no extra chemicals and the wipes are so gentle to your face! A box of 80 costs around $4-5 so quite the bargain too. I also gave up foundation and switched to mineral powder (Physicians Formula) and also to the Burt's Bees skin system (both found at most superstores/drug stores) and I cannot believe the condition of my skin. I am almost 40 and still suffer from a huge PMS acne outbreak once a month--but not this time! Anyways, I do recommend the book--a ton of information in there. If you are new to living a chemical free life it will give you tons of ideas and if you are already on that road, it will reiterate the ideas you have probably heard of (good to know) and still have some fresh ideas! We can all use a little more help in this area!
