This is a good film. Tom Hanks plays Victor Navorski who flies to the JFK airport from a fictional country. Unknowing to him, his country fell into war while he was on the plane, so now he can't go home, but he can't get into the states either! So he is stuck in the airport untill he can be allowed in the states. This is a pretty funny movie.

Tom Hanks is Stuck in The Terminal

Pros:
Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Unique plot idea.

Cons:
Slow at times and seemed too long. Few things that just seemed pointless.

When I first heard about the movie The Terminal, I didn t think I wanted to see it. The movie didn t sound too interesting to me at that point. Then I saw a preview and it did look interesting. Since then I ve wavered about if I wanted to see the movie or not. I did end up seeing the movie and enjoyed it for the most part. Viktor Navorski arrived at JFK airport able to speak very little English. There was a problem with his passport, and he had to go see Frank Dixon, an official at the airport. While Viktor was traveling to the United States, there was a coup in his country. All passports...

Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg Combine to Form an Acceptable Film
Review created: 04/05/05

Pros:
Tom Hanks; Mostly original story; Stanley Tucci

Cons:
Story is too simplistic; Some parts are too far- fetched

Traveling to the United States can often present some problems for certain people. With all the emphasis on security, it can sometimes be difficult to get into the country. But imagine if you were an immigrant to the U.S. and, while on your way over in the airplane, your nation has been wiped off the map due to war. It sounds far- fetched, but it is the basis of this movie, The Terminal, a film from director Steven Spielberg. Movie Facts: Rating: PG-13 Format: Color Director: Steven Spielberg Screenplay/Writing Credits: Andrew Niccol, Sacha Gervasi, Jeff Nathonson Theatrical Release Date:...

THE TERMINAL: I talk like Tom Hanks from Terminal....

Pros:
Umm...interesting concept I suppose

Cons:
Basically everything else

I have probably stated many times in my reviews that Steven Spielberg is not one of my favourite directors. Even though he did direct Schindler's List, one of my favourite films from the 1990s, his other films have not tended to leave much of an impression on me. Thus, one may wonder why I bothered to watch the film, The Terminal. I had even heard mixed reviews about the film, which is pretty unusual for a Spielberg film and any film with Tom Hanks in the leading role. I guess the only reason why I did watch the film was that my brother borrowed it from Blockbuster and that it happened to be..

Some Spittle from Speilberg: The Terminal (2004)
Review created: 06/09/05
by: flamepillar -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Tom Hanks

Cons:
...

Tom Hanks has a penchant for playing characters who get stuck living out of their element. It could be a 12-year-old kid in an adult's body, an obsessive-compulsive Fed Ex guy stuck on an island, or in the case of The Terminal, a Bulgarian-speaking citizen of Krakozia stuck in an American airport. Because of a war that overthrew the government in his home country of Krakozia, Viktor Navorski (Hanks) is sort of a liability (I guess) to the United States, who no longer "recognize" his country. Long story short, Viktor cannot leave the airport for an indefinite period of time, which ends up...

A 'Terminal' Diagnosis of the State
Review created: 05/08/05

Pros:
Strong Anti-Government Themes

Cons:
Characters are one dimensional. Little or no character development.

I am often amazed at exactly how much anti-government sentiment exists in our popular culture. Despite a constant barrage by the mainstream media, politicians, pundits, college professors, and just ordinary, every day people telling us how critical government is to our survival; that unless government does something, no one will; that government altruistically serves the people , while the private sector is motivated by selfishness and greed; and a whole laundry list of other myths, it is a breath of fresh air to see a movie in which government is portrayed as a bungling, petty, self-serving..
