This is a great, although in my opinion not perfect, book for learning temari. The book starts out with the very beginning of the craft and has numerous pictures of the 'getting prepared' steps. I have not yet tried these designs, so please understand that this review is based solely on looking/reading the book.
The one problem I see in this book is that it starts out with complicated looking designs. The patterns are somewhat intricate looking. It does however, have color photos of all projects and black and white drawings showing some of the stitches and steps needed to make the designs.
