Although this book is fiction, you would never know it. It has totally changed the way I view everyday life. I think of things in the book constantly, and can tell you I believe God blessed William Young in the writing of The Shack. What an amazing mind to write so beautifully about what we all imagine. It is a fairly short read, and a very easy read. It is a book I have purchased several extra copies of and have given as gifts. If you think you want to view God in a more vivid way-READ THIS BOOK!!!!

  A MOST Wonderful Book!

This is my third favorite book in the world and my first favorite fiction book!
Unlike so many other readers, I could NOT read this in a single day or just a few sittings...I found myself having to 'come up for air' and for the purpose of processing what I was reading!
What I read did not hurt my religious pride, but rather, confirmed an evergrowing suspicion that we are not looking at it all, necessarily, from God's point of view, but from man's well-intentioned, but manipulative view.
It is fact that the more we are hurt, the more we tend toward wanting to control things. (Simplified, consider the seat-belt law.) Man has been walking this earth hurt for so long that we are just one big mass of manipulation...all in the name of not hurting yet again.
This book is about TRUSTING GOD to take us through the hurts. It's about seeing His love, from HIS end of it, and understanding...KNOWING that He loves us. It doesn't try too hard to teach us how MUCH God loves us, because the fact is, if He loves us at all, (and He does, but we don't really KNOW it), then the 'how much' isn't the point. There are no levels of love in God, He's GOD, and what we would consider to be a mere ounce of His love is enough to gain our trust through Eternity. No, I don't believe the point is in the HOW MUCH, but in the KNOWING He means it for ME.
Oh, this book, it's brilliant style, brilliant descriptions and bold statements...it is NOT an offense to Christianity! Rather, it is a joy and offers profound hope that we can truly do all things, forgive all things, and happily obey all things He asks of us.
At least, we can, when we KNOW He loves 'us', and that 'us' is fully understood to be 'me'.
Mind-changing and therefore, life-changing.
READ it! You will NOT be sorry.

The Shack by William P. Young
Review created: 08/25/08

I was recommended this book, The Shack, by William P.Young by a close friend. It may be fiction, but it can be life changing because of its concepts. It is well written, easy to read and I didn't want to put the book down. The story is about a man who suffers a tragedy and later spends a weekend with God. The lessons learned go right to your heart and will never be forgotten. I do not belong to a book club, but this may get me to start one. I highly recommend it to anyone struggling with any life event or who just wants to spend a weekend with God.

I can't even put in to words how much I loved this book.. I laughed, cried and enjoyed this book the whole way through. It put things into a whole new perspective for me. When I was done all I wanted to do was share it with everyone I know! This book is WELL worth the read!!! You must have an open mind though but I promise you that when you are done although it is fiction you will be changed by what you read! I hope they make this into a movie I'd LOVE to see it.. the descriptions in this book make some beautiful images to see it on the screen would be amazing!

TO MUCH GOD STUFF, UNBELIEVIABLE AND INSULTING, READ IT THRU TRYING TO MAKE SOME SORT OF SENSE OF WHAT AUTHOR WANTED TO TELL ME - THE 3 TRINITIES MAKING AN APPEARANCE TO 1 MAN IN AN ISOLATED SHACK DIDN'T HELP ME READ TO THE ENDING. WAS ALWAYS WAITING FOR SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO HAPPEN - IT DIDN'T, AND I DIDN'T LIKE THE BOOK

Remember, this is a fiction book-however, the points made in this book are valid and very, very inspiritional. I would recommend this book to everyone who needs God and Jesus in their lives!! This book explains a lot of questions you may have of why there is "bad" in the world we live in. I will read it again and again!

Great Book, Great Reading, Great inspiration

This was a great book. It was very thought provoking and with just a few words promoted ideas clearly. I think the negative feedback about book is from people who know what they know and don't know how to let God speak through all avenues. God is wonderful and I love Him.

A friend loaned me this book to read. I was so taken by it that I decided to buy the book myself so I could read it again. It is an extremely thought provoking book that I can hardly get out of my mind. So much to think about and search your soul about. I recommend this book highly.

I absolutely love this book. I am not even buying this book for myself, but rather for a friend. I already gave my first copy away, too. This book is too good to keep to yourself. 10 out of 10

I ordered the book after viewing a TV spiritual(?) program and thought it to be an opportunity to learn more about: the Bible; God, our Heavenly Father; Jesus, My Precious Lord; and the Holy Spirit, My Comforter and Guide...
The book completely contradicts the Word of God!!!I fear for those readers without adequate Bible knowledge to know the difference between spiritual food and garbage........Sham and Shame for misleading spiritual hungry souls...May God help us all.........
I beg anyone considering this book to read THE SHACK, A REVIEW posted by Tim Challies on 17th July 2008 at.....http://sharperiron.org........

A friend gave me a copy of this book and I loved it so much, that I had to get copies to pass along to others. What a new perspective to The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I laughed, I cried and I couldn't stop reading. Whether the story is true or not, it leaves you thinking "What if?"

This is an amazing book and worth the time to read it. I agree with one critique that states this book could be on par with Pilgrim's Progress.

WOW! This book will make you think and isn't that what a good book does? You will be drawn into the story from the very beginning and won't want to put it down. Althought this is a work of fiction, you will have to remind yourself that it is. The author is very insightful and is able to describe the depths of human emotion.

This book is recommended reading for anyone who has sustained a tragic loss.
It's important to be open opened minded and just let the message of the book grip your heart without insisting that you be able to explain everything you read. Deep truths lie between the lines in this gripping novel.

I was very impressed with Mr. Young's presentation of the Trinity in a fictional setting. As I read along, I would laugh one minute and cry the next, but was totally captivated by this thought-provoking plot. Even though it is is fictional, the book is entwined with theological truths, all culminating in God's love for humanity. I give The Shack an A+ for its uplifting message and its creative portrayal of God.

The Shack - An eyeopener for me!!

I know that this book is very contraversial, but it's definitely worth reading! It's a fictional story, not meant to be "Gospel" so don't take it literally, word for word. It brought me back to the personal side of God, a part I had lost. It's an interesting perspective and you need to have an open mind to his creative ways of explaining his heart about the issue of God and His involvement in our lives.
Very much worth getting and reading, you won't put it down!
