The Secret by Rhonda Byrne (2006)

Basic, profound, by far the easiest read on the subject. If you like the movie, the book just spells out what was said, but it is great for reference to go back to often. I read something out of my copy daily to keep the momentum going. If you don't know The Secret, get it! If you do know The Secret, get it! Great to have around! By the way, The Secret is real, wether you believe it is or not! You can see how it has been in your life from day one and it really should be taken seriously, it is not some hokey idea, it is very real and can help or hurt you depending on how you use it! I did not recieve the book, but it was paid for. I have tried several times to contact the seller with no response.

I already had the DVD, but a friend lent me the book and I actually preferred the book. As I didn't want to mark her book up, I ordered my own. It's the kind of book that you want to reflect upon and read sections over and over for inspiration. I recommend this book as much as I could recommend any book. It has my highest approval rating.

I was given this book as a gift and read it each night before going to bed. Which was a really good time to do so because then you could apply the principles as you fall asleep. This book has helped me look at life in a whole new perspective, no it didn't take GOD out of my life, it helped me realize how important God is in us. The Secret was so informative that I gave it to my boyfriend, in A.A., to read. And as he is a Sponsor, that is one of the books that he has his sponsee's read. It gives them hope again where they had lost that part of their lives due to drugs and alcohol. It gives them a reason to BELIEVE in themselves once again. I have purchased so many of these books and have handed them out to friends and family members too.
I have read many other books since and one thing that I find missing from The Secret is that you need to clear your thoughts from your past. Let go of the past and live for now. In Zero Limits, The Attractor Factor and others they help you with clearing your mind from your old beliefs. Which is one of the hardest parts of A.A. because in the meetings they are always telling you to replay that TAPE that took you to your drugs, so that hopefully by replaying that tape, they will stay away from the drugs. From what I understand, I believe it's best to wipe the slate clean and start all over doing what you now know is Right.
My suggestion... don't just read this One Book, pick another author out of it and read their other book(s) and then pick an author out of that book, etc. I now have a wonderful library of books and a new Perspective on life. You know the movie Patch Adams, where they accuse him of being "Excessively Happy" people wonder what I'm ON, because I am 99% of the time HAPPY and Enjoying Life. When people want to know who I am in the A.A. meetings.. I tell them I Am Unique, (not just a Normie) - just Unique.

The book was very uplifting and has great ideas on how to live your life. I would recommend that every one read and reread the book. It could start you off with a new attitude.

An inspiring book that can be read over and over whenever you need a lift to remind you of the power of positive thinking.

It may be hard to comprehend how one can change their life so much, but this book gives good measure on mental capability to make our lives what we want.
One must truly have faith in them self to want to use this book to its potential.

If everyone understood the concept of "The Secret" we would live in a much more peaceful world. I bought it upon a recommendation of a friend.

Bought this book because friend said it changed her life, and helped her focus on the things she needed to. It helped her busy become what she wanted it to be, and changed her attitude immensely. Altho it was an easy quick read, it did not keep my attention and seemed repetitive in many areas. To me, it was not life changing, but helps you focus on the positive.

Everyone should read this book. Whether you believe in it or not is entirely your choice, but to make such a choice, you need to be informed. I think this is a great book to open dialogue with young teens about where they see themselves in two, five and ten years.

My wife and I have both had a lot of fun with this book. It offers some ideas that really resonate with us, and some very effective strategies for a happy life. Fun to read & re-read.

It lifts my sprit, great book for thinking positive. seen the dvd on it first and it was great. i love the way things in the book are straight forward. no messing just gets to the point.

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in focusing their life in a positive direction. When you first read it, it will seem a bit surreal, but after you start applying the concepts in this book and you truly believe, you will then understand the true meaning of the "Secret".

I also recommend the DVD that they have available...hey, you figure if Oprah is a huge fan and promotes it, its worth a look!

I have purchased many DVDs for family and friends. I thought I was ordering yet another DVD, I received a BOOK. Perhaps I should pay closer attention HUH?????????

I think, GOD instead of Universe and it makes sense to me.

Once again this is another book I saw on Oprah and haven't had the time to read it because I'm in college and this is taking up alot of my time. But my goal is to read this book come June cause I will have 2 weeks so I can stop and read it with no interuption.

.......I watched these people on Oprah talk about "The Secret" and how it was going to change you life and how you could get everything you every wanted after you know " the secret". Well, I hurried out and bought the book. I soon started reading it and what I read is that all I have to do is think about what I want and I will attract it! So now I am halfway through the book and I now realize that what we all want is to get something for nothing so we will buy a book that is full of such promises. It says we attract what happens to us - I don't think a victim of rape, or any other crime would agree to that. I don't think the people killed in a traffic accident would have survived had they known "The secret" either. The idea that you only need to be clear on what you want and you will "attract" it, might be partially correct. The step following the knowing what you want is not the waiting for its appearance, as the book suggest, it is taking the actions necessary to get it. That is what the book completely ignores. "The Secret" does have some very uplifting words. Like any self help book there are things to think about. But I apparntly don't get " The secret". I think everyone will agree that a good attitude in life will serve you better than a bad one...maybe that is another secret???

I was navigating through other reviews and I noticed one review that says the book is not realistic and we can't get thinner by just thinking that we are thin. I have to share my experience eventhough I know many people might not have the time to read my review. I have always been a great beleiver in positive thinking and because of this I have been very lucky in my life. I didn't know why I am lucky and why everything comes positive to me all the time till I read the secret. After that I even saw more good lucks and I sometimes see the power of the secret with my own eyes. The most important thing that Secret talks about it is the power of being thankful and greatful.Beleive me that's all you want to do in your life and you will have whatever you wish. I tried all the things the book mentioned and everything was true and right. I didn't know these before reading it. I never gain weight becasue I always think I never gain weight no matter how much I eat. That's what I have been telling people all my life. So as the book says the way I think about myself is stopping me from gaining weight when everyone else in my family is fat and I eat alot, but never gain weight. Isn't this amazing??
