Pros:
3-4 outright gems and most consistent album to date
Cons:
as good as this is, his best album is still to come
To call our man LL a genius may be overstating facts, but you can t deny his ability to write songs and mix styles with the best of them. The Road to Ensenada proves that, but also delivers a more even effort than previous Lyle joints. Yea, some Texas style quirkiness still lurks, in Don t Touch My Hat ("you can have my girl, but don t touch my hat"), and Long Tall Texan, but even these tracks drive along with a straight up honky-tonk beat that keeps them off the novelty song list.
