I'm a great fan of Joshua Bell. When I learned that he played for the sound track of this movie, I had to have it, just for that reason. What I got when I watched the movie, was a surprisingly entertaining story, well-acted, with a riveting plot and satisfying ending. I was not too fond of the English dilettante who had possession of the violin for a time, but all other incarnations of the instrument were fascinating. There are not many movies, especially modern movies, that I would spend money for. This one is worth it.

) Excellent movie. A portion of it does have subtitles. If you liked the movies, Impromptu or Amadeus, you would probably like this movie as well.

The Red Violin
) I love The Red Violin for the excellent casting and ability to capture my attention and hold it for the entire movie (even though there were subtitles). The history following this piece of art is complelling and disturbing at the same time. This is a heart wrenching tale of passion. I LOVE IT!
