The Red Shoes (VHS)

After watching this never before seen, by me, video on TCM. I searched Ebay and found this copy. I would have preffered a DVD but most of them are in PAL format. Besides I bough tthis one at a very good price. The seller was very responsive, I used Pay Pal and the item was shipped quite fast. I was surprised that my item was brand new! I thought it would be an old rental copy. It wasn't. So like most of my Ebay experiences this one was a happy one!
The video stars Mira Shearer and English Ballerina who rose to Prima Ballerina in a Ballet especialy written for her. It is based on Hans Christian Anderson's story, The Red Shoes. A girl offends the church by wearing Red Shoes, among other things. To make a long story short she can't take them off and her death from dancing ensues. The movie isn't so macabre, there are beautiful sets, costumes and locations! Highly recommended motion picture. In fact I think this is the only foreign musical on par with an MGM production.
