I love the soundtrack, the story line, the cast that was chosen, and just everything! I decided to buy it because it's one of the best vampire movies I've ever seen.
I love this movie and had to repurchase it due to loss. It was definatley worth buying a second time around! If you love sexy vampries this movie is for you ;)
I've seen this movie countes times now and still can't get sick of it. It's like a frickin' drug. I know a lot of people don't like it but there's something about it that just draws me in. Every single performance is spectacular, but Aaliyah is the one who steals the show. She not only played the role of Akasha she became it. Her body movement and beauty was captured exceptionally well. It's also nice to see that a black girl was chosen for the role of an Egyptian Queen (No, I'm not predjudice against white people, I am one). True it's not known what color the ancient Egyptians really were but this was a nice change. Stuart Townsend completely made me forget about Tom Cruise's portrayel of Lestat and Marguerite was striking once again. All in all it was a good time at the movies. For those who haven't seen it, be sure to watch it with an open mind and not take it too seriously. I mean, it's a movie about a vampire who becomes a rock star. Take it as that.
I have enjoyed this every time on TV and finally wanted the luxury of watching it whenever the mood struck. I thought it'd be terrible at first, but it's got all the proper elements for a good movie of this genre. There's just enough blood and gore to be exciting but not so much it's overboard with grossness. The characters are well developed, so by the end you're really identifying with them. It's sexy, as vampire movies should be. Just a load of fun! One of the best things is the music. I got the soundtrack because I liked it so much. Some movies like this leave you feeling dirty and sick of all the misery. This one does not. It balances the dark and the light just right.
..."HOW DO I LOVE IT---LET ME COUNT THE WAYS"---1. outstandingly true to exactly the way that I pictured the characters in my mind, and also true to the way they are. 2. Stunning performances by Ayliah and Stuart Townsend. Akasha (Ayliah) is purringly growlingly evil, totally MAD. Stuart Townsend is so sensational as Lestat that I forgot he was acting, HE IS LESTAT !!!!!! AND SO HEART-BREAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL that this movie is worth watching just to see him ... 3. I loved the actors voices. Stuart Townsend holding in his voice a touch of French accent, because as you know Letat is the 7th son of a French Marquis. Also, I thought it was endearing that the actors naturally lisp a little because of the "Vampire Fangs" in their mouths. Marius (Vincent Perez) was my son's favorite in this film--he loved Marius' sense of humor. 4. The costuming--Well, both my son and I wanted every outfit we saw in this film---the rich fabrics, the colors... 5. Did I mention the Rock Concert in Death Valley? (I hear that 3000 people showed up for 2 days, practically, of shooting---I'D DO IT!!! Stuart Townsend not only put on an enormously donvincing performance as ROCKER Vampire Lestat--but also did exciting videos (included on the CD) 6. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES---(6 stars---******!!!!!) the best!!!!!
Better then Interview with the Vampire, better actors, better setting. Blood sucking and Rock n Roll! Awsome movie follows the book closely, if your an Ann Rice fan check it out. Movie soundtrack equally as sweet as the movie itself. Aaliyahs last movie looking good as allways.
I have to admit I was pretty pumped to see this movie, being a huge fan of Interview with the Vampire (by the way I reviewed that one also and gave it 5/5), I was disappointed. The story was all right, but Stuart Townsend is no Tom Cruise. Not even close. If you like the 1st movie, this is a big letdown. That being said, it's still not too bad. The rock-n-roll vampire thing is kind of corny, but Aaliyah does a decent job as the Queen vampire. I think if Cruise would have been in this one, it would've been a lot better. Maybe the bar was set too high for me with the first movie.
If you love a good vampire movie or just heavy metal this is a must see movie. Audio in this movie sounds great on a suround sound system. Plain and simple, this is a great movie.
Being an Anne Rice fan I was excited when they announced the making of this movie. I had seen "Interview with the Vampire", so I knew it wouldnot be as good as the book, but I still looked forward to seing it on the big screen. The book was fantastic and I felt it helped that I had read it before seeing the movie. Viewing tbe movie helped me revisit the novel but took only a couple hours.
This is one of my favorite movies. I used to own it until all my DVD's got stolen. I can watch this movie over and over. Aaliyah is super seductive in this movie. You really do not need to watch 'Interview with the Vampire' to be on top of this one. Too bad Aaliyah is no longer.
Though, I didn't know this when I bought the DVD, it has some great extra features. Including several scenes that were edited out of the movie. It really brings you deeper into the story the movie creates. The special features also include 3 full length Lestat rock videos, which are excellent on their own.
I totally love this movie. If you like vampire movies and have read any of the vampire chronicals you will really like this movie. It is a must see. The bonus features are great too.
