(With apologies to Detective Harry Callahan, Philo Beddoe and that National Geographic photographer ) I m of the firm conviction that Clint Eastwood was born about 100 years too late. If only he d entered this world in, say, 1830, Clint would have made one helluva real-life cowboy the kind of raw-boned, laconic heroes you read about in dime novels; the legends who have Montana state parks named after them; y know, the stuff that rodeo dreams are made of. It s not hard to picture Mr. Eastwood riding herd with the Doolin-Dalton Gang or perhaps walking down the middle of Main Street, tin star...
