The Orphanage (2008, DVD)

I'm sure this would have been a good movie if I spoke Spanish. this movie had subtitles but then I spend the whole time reading the subtitles instead of watching the movie. So after about 30 minutes I shut it off.

I thought it would be more scary. 30 minutes into the movie i already knew what the ending would be. I haven't seen a movie that scared me in along time. Most of the movies that come out are based on the same plot with a slight twist..so in conclusion i give orphanage a C- for scariness a B- for originality.

I highly recommend this movie to anyone who like horror films. I can honestly say that this is one of the best scary movies I have seen in a very long time. It is such a great movie. 5/5

Hollywood watch out! This film is so good anything like it out of Hollywood does not even match up. I hate to say it I even think its as good or better than Polterguist. I don't like subtitles but it is well worth reading this movie. Great sets, photograghy, cast, and story all make this haunting movie worth watching. Made by the makers of Hellboy and Pans Labyrinth. If you have not seen Pans that is another must see.

I rented this movie because I'd seen "Pan's Labyrinth" and thought it held creative genius. This one was so good, so well directed and truly scarey without
the special effects, I bought it immediately after viewing it.

I really loved this film. A pulsing thriller, but with a sentimental value and unexpected ending. I really enjoyed this movie and the product itself was in pristine condition. A great pick for any Guillermo del Toro fans--beautifully simplistic, yet frightening and moving at the same time!

The product arrived as promised. Quick and in New condition!!! Would purchase more products from this buyer in the future!

This is now one of my favorite Scary/Horror Movies. THe ending was Great, Sad, Emotional, & Creepy all at the same time! Kept you on the edge of your seat & in suspense. The movie is in Spanish, but the english Subtitles were easy to Follow and not that much Talking anyways. So even though Subtitled it was the Best Movie!! Don't let the Subtitles change your mind about buying this movie!!! Give it a chance!

great movie!!.. the movie is about a lady who was adopted and well.. years later.. grew up and bought the orphanage and adopted a son name simon.... simon goes missing and all these weird stuff starts to happen... and well.. she finds out alot of sad stuff that happen there. this is a great movie.. scary and sad..

I wasn't too sure how great a scary movie would be with subtitles. I thought I would have to speed read just to keep up with the plot and then miss out on actually watching the movie. Not so with The Orphanage. The plot is easy to follow, with minimal dialogue. My husband who is not a reader or a lover of the horror genre easily kept up with the subtitles and not once did I have to pause the movie to explain what was going on!I also appreciated the fact that the ending wasn't so far fetched and out there that I was left with a "what in the heck?" feeling. All in all, this is a great movie, especially if you're looking for something that's scary, but without all of the gore. Don't let the subtitles scare you away, this is a great movie!

This movie I wanted to see at the theatres but simply missed it so I just purchased it on Ebay.The movie was quite good but I did not know it was sub-titled.After struggling to get the captions in english I sat back and did enjoy the movie.The acting was fine and the story line was good but it ran a little thin in places.It was not real scary but was spooky enough to keep you watching.The ending of the story could have been better but I figured that was how they would end it.If you have not seen this movie it is well worth the purchase and very well worth watching regardless of the captioning.A 5 star rating would be a reach but a solid 4 star is still better than most movies today.

I loved this movie! If you can get beyond the subtitles, there is a wealth of plot to keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend watching it again when you can focus more on the movie and less on the captions. It goes in my personal library as a favorite!

I really liked the Movie, and the story line. I did NOT like having to read subtitles through the whole movie. Sellers should NOTE THIS SUBTITLED MOVIE IN LARGE PRINT, I was unaware that it was all in Spanish and could NOT switch to English. I would not have spent the money to purchase it, and waited to watch it on tv channels.
