The Notebook (2005, DVD)

This movie has some wonderful actors and a great story line. There are some slow parts but most of the movie flows nicely. The movie is a lot better than the book (I fell asleep reading the book but the movie keeps your attention). There are so many parts that shows the love these two people had for each other and the ending just made me cry so hard! If you love romance stories, this is a must see!

If you loved this book by Nicholas Sparks, you will really love the movie. It is very true to the original book. Gena Rollins and James Gardner (one of his last movies) are just fantastic as the older couple. The love story is very romantic and even my guy friends, who are not into "chick" flix were amazed at the story itself. I am very pleased with this movie and will watch it over and over.

This movie keeps you guessing until the very end, yet you know right where the storyline is. Right off the bat you think you know how it will end then you get a giant smack in the face to wake you up and say "Oh my... awwwwwe!" The Notebook is a wonderful story about a truely in-love couple, one of which suffers from alzheimers, the other telling the magical story of their lives.

This is my second favorite movie.....if you watch it without crying you have no heart. The story line is among the most romantic I've ever watched and the acting is superb!!

This is my all time favorite movie, so I just had to own it. I love the creative way they portray the characters. I love the unconditional, soul-mate love. I love the "until death do we part" marraige. I am a bit disappointed about the sexual activity outside of marraige, but the rest of the messages in the movie are so great, that it's easier to swallow. Best love story I have every heard.

IT IS TRULY THE BEST LOVE STORY EVER AND SOMETHING YOU COULD WATCH OVER AND OVER. THERE WAS NOTHING I DISLIKED ABOUT IT AND I WAS EVEN MORE SURPRISED WHEN I DISCOVERED I HAD A REGULAR SCREEN VERSION AND A WIDESCREEN VERSION DVD INSIDE.

This is one of the best movies that I have ever seen. It shows how love and youthfulness goes hand in hand. The Notebook is refreshing and sad at the same time, but an excellent and romantic movie! A must see!

I purchased it, because I had seen it previously. Found it to be heart warming and wonderful scenes that were eye candy.

As a writer, the storyline is in reality 'a modern guidebook for dating' in disguise. It shows to men, that even though the woman you love is with another man. Keep your distance and if it is meant to be it will work out. Additionally, notice how the guy never asks/suggests/tempts the woman into having sex? It was not until the woman (in the very affectionate couple) mentions the desire to have sex. By the way they were acting, I thought they were already having sex. It is just something that a guy would not be reading (out loud) where nurses and others can hear. Besides the woman has Alzheimer's he would not want to offend the woman that may not see him as some pervert.

It is obvious that the writer is a guy. What the storyline also does as a result of it being written by a guy, makes it seem that the guy seems to do everything to make the relationship work. All the woman ever did, was miss him. Or forget him.

The visit with the children seems out of place. The kids asking dad to come home, because it would be wasting his time to continue to expect any improvement in mom. It is almost like the kids were saying forget her, like she forgot us.

Of course, I ask what is the ulterior motive of the kids asking the old man to come home. Dad has had a (mild) heart attack already, then had another shortly thereafter. Presumably died in his sleep from what? Love? It seems that the kids want dad to be the live-in babysitter. After dad had the heart attack, the kids never reappeared to even check on him. The kids never seemed to learn to have love, like mom & dad.

Then there is the implausibility that Alzheimer's patients, and common everyday senior citizens are housed together in the same hospital. If that was so, why couldn't they share the same room? Of course, there was no mention of any subsequent weddings that involved them both. Even though they had kids.

I forget the leading actresses name, but her clothes was outstanding. Something I would expect from a retired actress, not from some wife of a working stiff, as her husband is supposed to be.

Otherwise, if one ignores the glaring flaws in the storyline. It shows a love that stands the test of time. If it could only be that way in life that both members of a couple simultaneously die in each others arms.

If you liked this, I would recommend the movie Hope Floats. Even with the wild antics of many of the characters, it it seems a much better (and more realistic) love story. Now, if they did a "The Notebook" style sequel love story of Hope Floats, it might be more interesting.

For anyone who has ever experienced ' true love ' or found their ' soul mate'
this is a wonderful story adapted from the novella of the same title. Yeah, it's a chick flick ,but I know a guy or two who secretly loved the movie, and the acting is spot on. Not overly mushy,with humorous moments throughout and although you pretty much figure out the entire plot by the first ten minutes, it somehow doesn't spoil anything at all.
Gena Rowlands and James Garner's scenes are all that they could be and the connection between Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling is fantastic.
Without a doubt, one of the top romance movies of all time without being a tired cliche. You gotta see it!

This movie has been one of my favorites to rent over and over. I enjoy the timeless love story between the two main characters. It's a wonderful tearjerker that brings out the romantic side of those who watch the movie. It's such a good adaptation of the novel, that I think the movie is even better than the novel itself. Just my opinion.

A beautiful movie. It captures your heart from the beginning. This story is beautifully written. It warms your heart. This is how love should be...timeless and forever. Watching it on tv doesn't do it justice. I wanted this movie for myself. So grab a box of tissues! I loved it; a "two thumbs up" and 5 beautiful stars.

If you want a real tear-jerker movie--this is it. It rates right up there with Gone With the Wind (another of my favorites). I would put it in the category of "chick flick". I liked the music, I liked the theme, I'll watch it many times. After watching the movie 3-4 times on satellite, I thought it was about time I bought the DVD. Glad to have it in my collection. Read the book & it wasn't nearly as good as the movie.

two of my favorite actors in one movie! this was the ultimate love story with a true twist at the end. leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. loved it...could watch it over and over again!
