Long time Zelda fans and newcomers alike will not be disappointed.

Pros: The Phantom Hourglass is a nostalgic game on the DS with a story and gameplay that matches. There is so much to do and the new puzzle elements make it so much fun. The music and sound will take you back to every Zelda game you have ever played. Wear headphones to get the full experience.

Cons: The only con I can think of is the DS itself. The screen is small which can make it difficult to see where Link is going sometimes. I'm having to relearn how to use and hold the stylus because my hand covers the screen half the time.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

"This game is... EPIC!"
I know, I know. Epic? Am I exaggerating? Nope. Few games reach epic status, one such game is Metroid Prime. I know. Am I going so far as to compare this game to Metroid Prime? No. This game is astounding.

Graphics: 10/10

The graphics of the game are quite a lot like Wind Waker's, which means graphics are either something you love, or something you hate. I am personally a fan of Wind Waker's graphics, because it is more of a storybook style, and I persoanally enjoy that, because it makes you feel like you are enjoying a great fantasy novel, as well as playing a game. That is why I give the graphics a ten.

Sound: 10/10

The sound takes you back, as always, with that first "You found a secret! DANANANANA-NANA!", and takes you back to the Wind Waker days; not a huge time jump, but enough to make you nostalgic for that ol' GCN game; the game of so many hidden treasures. The time you hear the sailing song again, you will sigh with relief. It's back... your home...

Story: 10/10

The story in this game is quite intresting. Tetra has been kidnapped, and you must find her. Wow, big suprise, right? However, the story gets more and more intresting with every new dungeon. It is great.

Puzzles: 10/10

Ok. You may start to think I am kissing up to this game, but the puzzles are amazing. Sure, they are the same ol' Push Block, Hit Switch in Right Order conviently located on sign, but then there are new puzzles such as "Open the door by writing the number of palm trees on the beach on the sign". It is like playing "Trace Memory" With Zelda. Thumbs up!

Gameplay: 10/10

From learning to roll to the Phantom Dodgings, to finding the way to find the secret cave, it is epic. Sailing, sadly, has taken a small toll, as now you may not free sail, instead navigate in a line. Fortunately, ship battles, Beedle, and barrels to dodge are still cool. Go ahead. You know the game. Let's play

Overall: 10/10

For the reasons stated above, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass has achieved Epic-hood. You can't beat this game. Well, you can, because if you don't then you will have failed game-hood, or your dignity, but this game deserves respect, care, and honor. This game will live on as one of the greatest DS games of our time. It isn't Twilight Princess, but in some ways it is better (Because this game actually has hard puzzles before Arbiter's Ground!). You will love this game. Welcome home, Link. Go on. You can stop reading. Go play.

Reviewer's Score: 10/10

Game Release: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (US, 10/01/07)

  Fun Game
Review created: 07/06/08
by:

I just recently took this game on an eleven day vacation. I played every night for about half an hour, about 5 or 6 hours each day we traveled, and another couple hours on top of that. All in all, about twenty hours. I not only didn't beat the game, I never got tired of it.

Each dungeon is a puzzle in of itself, forcing to not only strive to stay alive, but to solve logic problems. The, shall we say 'interesting', controls were fun and added a lot to the game.

Most of the time you played from an above view, controlling Link. Similar to what it looked like on the Zelda for Super Nintendo, only with better graphics. However, my two favorite boss battles were in true 3D, and totally sweet.

If you liked Zelda: Windwaker for Gamecube, and get used to the controls quickly, you'll love this game.

I GOT MY FREE XBOX 360 YOU CAN GET YOURS TOO !!!

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It literally takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you, this is 100% real. Here is what you do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). The best offer to do is STAMPS.com. Its free, all you need to do is register and follow the instructions. And you’re on your way

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use them to get a free Xbox 360 Elite or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 4 week free trial and it is free!). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you. After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 5-13 people or friends (depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link (just post the same thing as I have on eBay or any other message board, and you'll get your referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your Xbox 360 Elite or your selected item for free, I chose the Cash. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all the referrals. All you have to do is post it on EBAY! They use us as advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your own personal link after your orders placed.

Step 1: Click my link: http://www.360Elite4free.com/index.php?ref=5136262

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and best).

Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps.com) and refer up to 13 people to do the same (use eBay! Do what I did, copy my ad).

Step 4: Receive your Xbox 360 Elite or Cash for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping Is Free!!!)

For proof that this is for real, click on the link below. It's the company that is behind everything.

Good addition to the series, challenging ending
Review created: 06/17/08
by:

This one pretty much follows the Wind Waker game. But there are good parts to that no LONG vast travels with nothing happening or paying really close attention to the wind directions. This one offers good additions and twist thanks to the DS game play, such as touch screen does movements and combat without a hitch, and makes puzzles and more even better than before. Do not get me wrong this game is not simple like most DS games, this Zelda offers the MOST frustrating dungeon I have ever tried in Zelda and it all has to do with the "Phantom Hourglass". This dungeon is timed and tricky as you go through this dungeon the sands of the glass trickle down and if you do not complete it in time you have to start at the first floor again and again but as you unlock the 2nd and 3rd and 4th Hourglass challenges. Hopefully the ending doesnot keep you away from this game all in all this game is a good challenge.

  Hours of play
Review created: 06/03/08

The first time I played this game, I couldn't put it down for 6 hours. I never play video games, so it was nice to be able to play this with minor challenge. There are somethings I had a hard time figuring out, but I eventually did. The gameplay reminds me of the original Zelda, FUN!

  Another nice Zelda game; unputdownable
Review created: 05/10/08

Was looking forward to play since the first ads, worth waiting.

Very nice gameplay and one of the best usage of touch screen game for DS.

A bit too short in storyline, but still can spend much more time in side quests.

Overall, another must have game for Zelda fan and for people who's waiting for a good game.

  i loved this game
Review created: 05/08/08

i'm not usually a huge fan of this type of game, as a matter of fact i didn't even finish the supposedly subliminal ocarina of time, having been bored to tears with all the trudging about and i did get a bit bored with all the aimless wandering and wrong-turning i did in this one too, but the payoff is there with some excellent dungeon designs, clever puzzles, lots of fun minigames and cool combat with some very well realised, original enemies and bosses and it probably makes the best use out of the ds's unique interface yet, multiplayer is a load of fun too. highly recommended.

  Another zelda must have!
Review created: 04/11/08

This is an all around great game for ages average 10 and older. just my opinion.
great graphics! entertaining and easy navigation.

Really makes you stop and think about things. The puzzling part of it entertaining and fun.

the only thing that turned me off is you have to scream into the microphone at one point. and You MUST do it to continue the game play.
That is something that could have been altered to a more desirable maneuver.

Even with that draw back, I still have to give it an excellent rating.
well worth it.

  Great Zelda Addition!
Review created: 04/09/08

This is another Zelda great. Nintendo did a fantastic job with this game. Both the graphics and game play are a lot better than previous hand-held versions. The touch screen makes the game a lot more interesting for both kids and adults alike. Even the more animated version of Link is a nice change from the more realistic Wii Zelda game.

It's a good game but a bit tricky in spots. If you have the Guide Book you will be fine. Without it you may get stuck in spots but overall I am enjoying it.

  Interesting game
Review created: 03/28/08

I have always liked the Zelda games and this one is no exception. I just wish the graphics were better. It lookes like paper cutouts and then you use the stylus ALL the time for EVERYTHING. That is a little annoying but I guess that is the whole idea behind the DS. The game is interesting and a lot like the original games.

  Zelda game at its best!
Review created: 03/09/08
by:

This has got to be one of the best Zelda games I have played in a long time. I love how the game takes full advantage of the DS which makes it a very interactive game. SPOILER! At one point in the game it lets you use the microphone to yell for help and then at another point you have to close the lid to "simulate" pressing a map from the top of the screen to the bottom. Lets just say Nintendo has done it again and it MUST be apart of your collection! enjoy!
