Four Swords with Three Friends for More fun.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures is a highly polished and perfected game. It doesn't focus on eye popping visuals or next-gen graphics. The point of the game is fun. It's what Nintendo is best at. This is a true Zelda game full of all the baddies, items, weapons, sounds, characters, and settings that you would be familiar with if you played another Zelda title before. It looks like a graphically superior Game Boy Advance game, with little touches of special visuals all around. This is by no means a detractor, but when you play multiplayer and the screen is swarming with enemies, you'll appreciate its uncluttered simplicity.

This game is best played with three other friends that own Game Boy Advances. When all linked up, it improves the gaming experience. You use the GBA for control, and there are times when only you can see what your player is doing because it's shown of the GBA screen. It's pretty cool since there is a competitive element to the game. You'll hear your friends say, "Hey! Where'd you go?" Only to find you in some secret cave filling your bag full of gems. You of course have to co-operate to complete a level, but it's a lot of fun to pick up and throw your buddies avatar and use him as a weapon.

Yes, there is a single player portion of the game, and you can play without a Game Boy Advance. It's fun, don't get me wrong. You won't miss out if you don't have a GBA, I just highly recommend it.

There are not many other games to compare it too since it's a different experience with its enhanced connection ability. I guess you could compare this game to the Gauntlet series. They have a similar playing style. You view from above, hack away at enemies, and solve puzzles.

My one negative note is the cost factor required to play this game with three friends. They all have to have a GBA and a link cable! All that gear adds up, and unless your friends are loaded, it'll be hard to coerce your friends to pony up the dough to buy what's needed to enjoy the multiplayer part of the game.

With that said, it’s fun. Loads of fun, tons of extras, very replay-able, and lots of hardware is needed to play this game to its fullest. The money is well spent, though. You'll enjoy it.

  Fabulous Multiplayer Game

Zelda Four Swords Adventures is a very fun multiplayer game. It's one of the few multiplayer RPGs. The game has a great replay value too. Because the game is also a "platform" game you can replay your favorite levels again. The only thing that it lacks is that it is pretty easy and virtually no story line, but other than that it's outstanding!

The game is great with graphics and story lines.
Many secrets to unlock. Many hours of fun.
The free available online walk through guides for the games are helpful too.

This is an addictive game. You just have to line the Links up in just the right way. Once you figure out that part of the game, you figure out the rest of the game. The only part I didn't like was the fact you can only carry one thing at a time.

  Great multiplayer game.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures is a great mulitplayer Zelda game that you and your friends will have fun playing. There are a few down sides. Unlike other Zelda games, the storyline is linear and forces you in one direction, it also lacks an overworld. Also, the multiplayer requires that each player have a Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Advance to Gamecube link cable which can make it pretty hard to actually find anyone to play the game with. That is a shame because the single player mode (which can be played with the Gamecube controller) while it is fun and challenging, isn't nearly as fun as it is playing with friends. So, if you can get 2-4 other people who have a GBA and GBA to GCN link cable to play then definately get this game. If you'll be playing it solo, then you might want to think about it a little more. It's still fun by yourself but it was designed with multiple players in mind.

Good Game, Different From Previous Zelda Games
Review created: 07/06/07

I bought this game because I thought it was "Link to the Past", but with 4 guys instead of 1. Although the graphics are mostly similar to "Link to the Past" the gameplay is not. A lot of the classic rules about item use in previous games is changed in this one: such as unlimited bombs and arrows. In addition, you can only carry one item at a time (bombs, or boomerang, or arrows), and you cannot swap between these items at any time: you must find those items in your environment to use them. This adds a different dimension to the gameplay and puzzle-solving that goes on, which I like.

Also, although most of the graphics are "Link to the Past"-like, they also involve some very effective GameCube-style graphics, which adds greatly to the effects. Because you have 4 characters that you can form into formations, the game occasionally throws a lot of enemies at you: 50 or more guys coming at you can be pretty daunting, but it's fun to line your guys up and start swinging away.

I've only played it as a single player, but it is still a lot of fun. When I am finished with the game, I have some friends who plan to play the multi-player version with me. We found some first-generation Gameboy Advances (GBA) at local trade stores for about $20 each. I also bought some link cables on eBay. Since I also own "Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles", getting these devices was worth it to me. But, whether or not you have GBAs, and at least one friend to play with you, this game is definitely fun to play, and should be worth your time.

  Love the Zelda games

I was somewhat reluctant to purchase this one as I wasn't too thrilled with the Windwalker version. I was hoping this one would be better, back to the older type version that I adored. It was. I had a great time playing it. It was ust tough enough to enjoy without being long and boring getting around like the Windwalker version. I look forward to other versions of this game coming on the market. I adore the Zelda game format. Hopefully, that doesn't mean that cause I'm old. I happen to be a senior citizen and still enjoy games like this one.

I bought this game because I've loved playing the games in the Zelda series since I was a kid. When I finally started making decent money I bought a Game Cube specifically to play the Zelda-Legend of the Wind Waker game, which is the best game ever in my opinion. However this paticular game goes back to older Nintendo games, with so-so grpahics, and effects, the game is fun but like most Zelda games, your going to need to buy a guide or search the web.

This game was a very good one. I remember when they put four swords multiplayer on the GBA A link to the past. Some of my friends and I played it for hours a day, and since that version I waited for the release of this game which was amazing. It is better with more people of course. I love how in this game you can upgrade your items in some levels, and I love how you can do formations. Any Zelda fan, or a person who just likes fun in their videogames should get The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.

A good game but didn't have any gameboys to join in.
Review created: 07/19/06(updated 09/05/06)

This game was an easy one to beat, and it goes a little quicker than most Zeldas. I liked the cartoon child-like graphics and the fact it was created to look and sound somewhat like Super Nintendo's Zelda. I didn't have any gameboys to hook up this game so I didn't get the full enjoyment out of it as I could and would of liked to. I did like playing it but not as much as Wind Waker or any of the 64's games (maybe because of no Gameboys). At times I did find getting around to be a little different with four of me attatched to just one player...but I managed and got used to it. Not my favorite Zelda but still a really good game. Plus, the fact it was easy didn't leave you feeling frustrated all the time.

Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures: - Save Hyrule With Three Of Your Friends
Review created: 06/29/04
by: jeremy1456-- a member of Epinions and Lead in Games

Pros:
Multiplayer, Battle Mode, Fun Mini Games, GBA Integration, Terrific Gameplay

Cons:
GBA Mandatory for Multiplayer, Sore Thumbs From GBA D-Pad

Let's face it, Nintendo hasn't exactly been giving their fans what they want during the current generation of consoles. Most fans were severely upset when they first saw that Nintendo had cel shaded the Legend of Zelda series. It was nearly as upsetting as when people began realizing that Super Mario Sunshine isn't half the game that Super Mario 64 turned out to be. One of the biggest upsets though, came last year when Nintendo revealed it's emphasis on connectivity between the Gameboy Advance and Gamecube console. This wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, except for the fact that they had no.

Pros:
a great multiplayer game, a solid single player game

Cons:
in order to enjoy the multiplayer you need 4 GBA's

While I got the Legend of Zelda the four swords adventures for the Gamecube several months ago I only beat it today. It s not that Zelda four swords isn t a fun game it s just that I liked to play it when ever I had a friend or a brother around to play the game, and that of course took me a while to go through the game. See Zelda the four swords isn t just like your usual Zelda game, it s a multiplayer game that uses the GBA and its link cable to the cube in order to provide a more unique experience. Story. The land of Hyrule is once again covered in darkness, and the seal holding the wind...

The best incorporation of GBA and gamecube
Review created: 06/08/04
by: ericwcha -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Probably amongst the top 10 best multiplayer games of all time

Cons:
Multiplayer reqs all 4 players to have GBAs and GBA/GCN connects.

This game is amazing... I do not even know quite where and how to begin, but here goes: Visuals This game is really nothing special in the visual department. It is a top down view (exactly the same as Zelda for the snes game.) However, this game is not about fancy smancy graphics, but more on gameplay. Story Zelda gets kidnapped by an evil wind sorcerer named Vaati. Link finds a sword and it splits him into four separate beings. Gameplay This section is going to be rather long. The game itself is very linear. This Zelda has done away with the huge overworld where you can freely roam around....

The Lens of Truth can't even see past Four Swords' depth.
Review created: 10/23/06
by: ikaruga4 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
GBA multiplayer is the greatest thing to happen to the GameCube.

Cons:
That you have to read this because you haven't yet bought the game.

Those of you who have played this game on GBA before should be familiar with the Story. The evil sorcerer named Vaati has escaped his seal of light, and has kidnapped 7 maidens. As you draw the four sword from the stone in front of you, you split into four links with a slightly weaker sword, which can get its full power back after 2000 force gems are collected, which are hidden throughout the levels. There are 2 modes of play: Hyrulean Adventure-This is the Story Mode. There are 8 areas with a total of 24 gigantic levels. Every now and then, Tingle will invite you to his Tower to play some...

  Not worth the money.
Review created: 09/29/06
by: ailiam -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
The though was good at making this game have new life.

Cons:
The new life wasn't worth the previous one, nor the money.

This is a new twist on an old game. Unfortunately the old game was much better. The old Zelda game was challenging and made you think, while this one will have you walk with training wheels. The multiplayer is B.S. PERIOD. If you want to enjoy the multiplayer you need the GBA's to do so, and you also need to have friends that arent intellegent enough to just find the old one for the computer and play it. All around I would say that this game left me feeling like I was ripped off. If you have the money to buy this game, take my advice and save your self the disapointment. If you cant seem to...
