Grace, Hannah, and Amelia are senior citizens who live in a hum drum boarding home due to circumstances in their lives. It is only when Amelia inherits a house in the mountains of North Carolina that all the ladies want to check it out to see if it can be renovated and move in together. They fall in love with the town of Covington and make new friends as they renovate the old house. This is where they will make their lives and overcome the fears they have had in the past. Their first year in Covington is a joyous one, as they forge new lives and gain confidence and independence. There are still a lot of little bugs that need to be taken care of, not only in the house, but in their lives, so as you follow the Covington series you are also following the story of these women and their joys and sorrows and everything that makes their lives come together.
I bought two of these as gifts for friends and have todl many others about it who have also read and enjoyed it. I read a review about the book in the AARP magazine where it said that women contacted the author after this book and asked her to continue the saga.I am now on the 5th one in the series and I love them! It is light and fast reading but it true to life in many ways. I particularly enjoy the range of emotions the women experience as their relationships develop and grow. A must read for any women who treasures the friendship and appreciates the need for other women in your life.
First book in this series. Joan Medlicott is such a great writer, can't wait to start the second book. I would recommend to any woman to pick up one of Joan Medlicott books.
