The whole CD is so romantic, Toni Braxton's voice is beautiful. I bought this item as a replacement, I've played the old CD so many times it's scratched.

Toni Heats It Up Better Than An Easy Bake Oven

Pros: She's taking risks and trying out new sounds.
Cons: The Art Of Love; Toni writes.
The Main Idea: Though Secrets is a tough album to follow and is definitely the peak of Toni's career, she made a great attempt at a follow-up with The Heat. This album is a bit of a new sound for Toni in that it's more upbeat and catchy and doesn't have as many of the slow, soulful ballads as her previous efforts. After filing for bankruptcy in 1998 and a series of contract disputes with LaFace Records, it sounds like Toni wanted to start afresh, and that's apparent on The Heat. She's working with a greater variety of producers and is trying her hand at writing (however sucky her efforts may..

Feels Like A Dead Heat To Me.

Pros: Vocals and the occasional smooth ballad.
Cons: Too much youth oriented funk and R&B filler. Production is a bit below average.
After A huge success with the good, but overrated "Secrets" album in 1996, Toni Braxton also went through a rough and also widely publicized bankruptcy in 1998. Two years later, Toni willed all of her creative energy, sans the creatvity into her third studio album, 2000's "The Heat", with which she had a moderate success with the single "He Wasn't Man Enough". Now, while I am a Toni Braxton fan per say, My dedication and loyalty have waned considerably since this album's release. The vocals are still lingering around for the ride and her annoyingly familiar lyrical concepts are hanging out as.

Lukewarm Responses To The Heat Fade Some

Pros: Excellent Voice, Generally Well Produced, Some nice instrumentals
Cons: Nothing spectacular in the lyrics
Toni Braxton might just end up on my growing list of artists that I own no albums from but who I figure I ought to own their "Best of" album should it ever be released. Weezer and Everclear (which I understand has one) and TLC (ditto) are on that list largely because I've liked singles I've heard from them and (with the former two) their style is distinctive but limited. Toni Braxton, based on the songs I've heard from her on the radio and now listening to her album "The Heat" is an odd example of an artist with a clear talent for singing whose work leaves the listener with a disconcertingly.

Turn up the Heat

Pros: Great album
Cons: none
With this aptly titled, and long awaited for follow-up to "Secrets", Toni Braxton takes the "Heat" even higher. The rich, emotional voice is as seductive as ever, but some of the songs on this album show us a more worldly, even diva-ish quality to Braxton. (check out the album cover). The lead single, He Wasn't Man Enough starts the album off with a bolder, more confident feel to the music. The songs on this album are a great mix of ballads and somewhat upper tempo beats. From the sultry ballad, "Spanish Guitar" (hauntingly reminiscent of "Unbreak My heart", but with a soulful latin...
